Pakistan, Bangladesh communal as they have no Hindu leaders, says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Actually, we didn't join it, we were the front runners when it came to fighting for an independent Muslim nation.

What Bengali muslims wanted and concept of Pakistan was bit different. Bengali muslims asked Jinnah to include Bengal in Pakistan because British were not giving any other option by 1940's.

True enough.. although in truth, Jinnah shafted our plans for an independent Bengal.. so we aren't all too fond of him.. that said so long as we didn't have to live with genocial maniacs we're happy with how things turned out.

Care to share that independent Bengal plan which you allegedly got screwed from?

Keeping in mind the 100 years of reforms British took in Bengal till 1933.

Its easy to blame a dead man.

Jinnah didn't do anything of that sort. Bengali leaders asked Jinnah to include Bengal in Pakistan in 1940's after option for independence was of the table. That was only way to get independence from Hindurashtra. 2/3 of Muslims were lucky. British didn't gave that option to sikhs, christians who chose to remain with sickular India instead of joining obviously Islamic country. Hell many muslims wanted to remain in sikular India. Case in point muslim leadership of Indian occupied Kashmir.

British and Sikular hindus played dirty games to get as much land as possible.

Urdu speaking Muslims and Bengalis wanted Pakistan

Other parties were not that politically active, joined the bandwagon much later on...

Punjabi elite getting into the mix gave the movement a final push

That's why I have always maintaned, Jinnah should also be considered an important figure in Bangladeshi history
