Mosque caretaker held over blasphemy charges
KASUR: Kanganpur police on Sunday arrested the caretaker of a mosque over charges of alleged blasphemy in Kals area.

Villagers staged a protest demonstration outside the Kanganpur police station following the arrest. They besieged the building and demanded police hand over the suspect to them. A large number of villagers were still demonstrating outside the police station till filing of this report.

According to police, villagers had caught Hafiz Haroon Rasheed of Jamia Arabia in Kanganpur area of Kals when he was burning something outside the mosque. The villagers alleged that he was burning pages of the holy Quran. A villager informed police, who arrested Rasheed and took him to the police station.

Police told Dawn that Rasheed denied burning anything but some torn pages and straw outside the mosque. He also told police that being a Muslim he could not even think of doing what he was alleged to have done.Police said they were holding dialogue with local religious scholars on the issue.

W.r.t. disposing, such is arranged in a manner before senior Ulema and with permission. This case seems to be more of revenge by blaming other party with such allegation so that people will get angry and resulting in mob justice. Interesting thing is, there are two groups in area as Deobandi and Brelvi and seems like one got an opportunity to malign other as such to get rid of it. No Muslim will ever do as such what is alleged but it is more of a fight against other group for superiority in area and nothing else.

I remember their was an agitation at my unit while we are have stay at Dehradun, one morning a young sepoy (Rehmat Ali) was assigned by me to clear the are (cleaning of mess of some old quarters remains) in order to place our temporary camps /tents over there he did it well with others but there was an idol type thing (Ganesh) he miss took it as trash or children toy and rest other starts beating him and thank God our C.O Late Col. Narayan was there and situation comes under control. Somebody said quite right crowd has lots of heads but without brains.

Agreed and unfortunately it starts with Pakistan in this this region and probably end with India's radicalization very soon.
World is becoming more and more polar being divided on the basis of religion, Sad but it starts with division of India if that not happened (because of Nehru) India / this subcontinent probably be the best place to live in harmony.

This is a religion where you can't accuse a person of illicit sexual relations unless multiple people see the man's part actually inside the woman. That's how merciful this religion is yet people kill people because they suspect something. These people are not from our faith
