Twenty four years to the day when they were forced to flee from the Valley, a delegation of Kashmiri Pandits submitted a memorandum to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the Capital on Sunday seeking his intervention for their return to their homeland.

Interacting with the delegation, Mr. Modi said it was on January 19, 1990 that Kashmiri Pandits were made to leave their homeland. It was an attack on not only a community but their centuries old tradition, he said. What the displaced Pandits are facing today is not just a fight against injustice meted out to them, but are also fighting for the reinstatement of their lost tradition back in the Valley, he added.

Mr. Modi told the delegation that injustice to Kashmiri Pandits is not only an attack on their rights but an attack on our national ideal of ‘Sarva Pantha Sambhav’.

“No words will ever explain the extent of suffering Kashmiri Pandits experienced. Justice towards the community remains our firm commitment,” he told the delegation.

In the memorandum submitted to Mr. Modi, the community said: “Challenge to the idea of Indian Nation state continues in Kashmir in one or the other form. Extirpation of entire Kashmiri Hindu religious minority is one of its worst manifestations. This religious identity has suffered ignobility and tragedy of exodus in the past as well, but the mass exodus of 1990 is one of the worst scars as it happened in 'Secular, Democratic and Free India'.”

The delegation said the targeted killing of members of the Hindu Minority community that led to mass exodus has resulted in the change of the demographic profile of the State, yet “no commission was constituted nor was any enquiry ordered into the causes of extirpation and rise of fundamentalist-anti-India insurgency in Kashmir.”

Typical shamefull hindu, everyone has forgotten about suffering kashmiris has gone through in hands of hindus.

Dont understand, India claims terrorists have been dealt with in their Indian Occupied Kashmir, then why these Pandits not return to their homes there. Who is stopping them now? Surely, the ordinary Kashmiri neighbors will not harress them. They have the 700,000 might Indian soldiers to protect them. Then why?

Because they enjoy celebraty status in India. I doubt anyone will come back. Muslim kashmiri leaders should make sure that hindu army dont sneak other Indians in place of pandits.

Well I think so too. They may be getting a lot of compensation from the Indian govt and thats why they dont want to go back.

Completely support the Kashmiri Pundits .

If NaMo becomes the PM , he should help them and resettle them in their homeland of J&K .

Yup - lot of compensation. My grandfather has not received his pension since the nineties. We are also defaulting on the property tax on a small house in Srinagar. Too bad, that house is currently inhabited by someone else. And no, they are not terrorists. :hitwall: So yeah - lot of money we got from the Govt. Thanks.

Besides, the handful terrorists did not force us out. The people did. Many KMs hate us for being non Muslim. If you want you can search for some of the slogans chanted during the time. You will get the hint. And then there were the killings - not in the hand of the Hizb Muj. but the JKLF (indigenous)

they have settled in other places........now they need money to move back for new homes
secondly..........there is still millitancy in kashmir............
even if there are 7 lakh army men(i think not)......its not possible to protect all 70 lakh people of kashmir from terrorists....

on topic.....
there was a demand for a separate state fro kashmiri pandits.........the govt should either divide it into 2 or remove article 370.......which will help in reducing millitancy.......

population will increase there....so will the aspects of development.....the kashmiris are joining civil services and other big psu.....
in another decade.....things will become normal

NaMo should help these poor Pandits in their resettlement. Time to revoke 370 from Kashmir. This self righteous attitude doesn't suit modern world. At least that clause of 370 should be revoked which forbids non kashmiri Indians to settle in Kashmir. I want to buy a property in Srinagar and rent that to tourists.

Actually the locals oppose 370 in the defence that it affects their businesses, other activities.

actually kashmiri has to kick out in Azad kashmir......or pakistant

Kashmir belongs to kashmiri pundit(son of soil)

haha

5% of ganga hindus who moved some time back become son of soil lollllllllllllllllllll And the reason kashmiris hated pandits is they sided with hindu army who killed & raped muslim kashmiris just because of religion.

Sad. Kashmir should be for all Kashmiris. But we all have played this game and now no one is happy in Kashmir. Both countries should try to resolve this matter for the sake of Kashmiris, not for themselves.
I dont know what the solution is, but certainly this is not the solution that India has around 700,000 soldiers there and still the Kashmir is not safe. So obviously, the problem is internal. Lets stop blaming each other and look for solutions.

I don't know if i want to believe, after all you are typical muslim hater hindutvadi. But i believe muslims shouldn't have taken their anger on pandits, even though most of them moved to India safely.
