Breaking News : Firing at LOC

RIP, a totally avoidable situation IMHO

5 Indian troops might have been very close to Pakistan side, which Pakistani troops might have considered as some kind of a potential threat or incursion. Hence the firing.

Sometimes stupidity defies logic.

Close to pakistani side means what?

If they were within Indian side of fence, they had the right to live.

Its funny how Indians by default think that their army doesn't violate the ceasefire. 2 of them were injured by an IED.

RIP

Can we talk of this incident? And how come getting injured of an IED blast within own boundaries is ceasefire violation? And that too an engineer core jawan.

same old story that Pakistani forces fired first and innocent Indians were taking tea in their bunkers ...who knows the reality..anyhow RIP to the soldier, may God give patience to his family...

There is always a threat when you are too close to the fence or LOC. Applies to both Pakistanis and Indians.

Anyways TOI says Indian soldier was killed in IED blast and not Pak firing.

NOt same old story..This is what happened:

The incident happened on Sunday morning when a team of Indian jawans had gone to the forward area of Jogwan in Pallanwalla sector to rescue a colleague - an Army jawan of 4 Engineers who had been injured when he stepped over a landmine when a team of soldiers was examining border fencing in the forward area.

When a team of the Army jawans went to the forward area to rescue their injured colleague and shift him to hospital, Pakistan Army personnel opened fire on them causing injuries to three more jawans. One of them, from the 2 Maratha Light Infantry unit, later succumbed to his injuries

Anyways TOI says Indian soldier was killed in IED blast and not Pak firing.
That is a different sector-Akhnoor.

The deceased soldier was killed in a fire exchange.

Not exchange but shot by pakistani troop when trying to rescue an injured indian soldier inside indian boundaries.

You are just trying to give this incidence some legitimacy by calling it a fire exchange.

I hate these RIP comments.

How can a person's soul rest in piece if his killer are roaming free ?

I would say give a fitting reply that would send chills down enemy's the spine.:sniper:

Life of Indian soldiers are not so cheap.
You need to tell your soldiers to stop messing with us other wise they will have the same fate that this soldier had

Jammu, May 19 (IANS) A soldier was killed and two were injured in a guerrilla attack near the international border in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday, an official said Monday.

Two soldiers were injured Sunday in a landmine explosion in the Akhnoor area of the international border in the state. Sources said a patrol party had gone to evacuate the injured soldiers when it came under attack.

The patrol party was targeted by terrorists in Akhnoor area at 11 a.m. Sunday, Defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told IANS, adding Sepoy Bhikale was killed in this attack.

A high alert has been sounded in the area.

The army also foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Ghali area of the Poonch district Sunday when a group of guerrillas were prevented from sneaking into the Indian side.

An improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the guerrillas was later destroyed.

Heightened tensions on the border between India and Pakistan have thrown the lives of thousands of civilians living close to the border out of gear.

A modicum of normalcy had returned after the signing of a bilateral ceasefire agreement in November 2003.

The agreement held well for some years, but last year frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops both on the LoC and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir again heightened tensions between the two neighbours.

In 2014, the Pakistani Army has violated the ceasefire agreement seven times so far.

JAMMU: An army jawan was killed and two of his colleagues were injured when militants triggered an IED explosion targeting a patrol team along the LoC in Akhnoor area of Jammu district, a senior army officlal said on Monday..

One jawan was killed and two others suffered injuries when a patrol party was targeted by terrorists with an Improvised Explosive Device along Jogwan forward belt in Akhnoor border area of Jammu district yesterday, the army official said.

The deceased has been identified as Sepoy Bhikale. The injured jawans — head constable Vinod Kumar and Lance Naik Amol Kumar — have been admitted to the military hospital, Northern Command for treatment.

The militants had planted an IED near a track and triggered the blast to target the troops, the official said, adding that the matter is being investigated.

Pakistani troops later resorted to brief firing on the forward border belt in Nathu Tibba area, triggering panic among the villagers. The firing came to end last night, police officials said.

An attempt by three Pakistani militants to sneak into Indian territory was yesterday foiled by the army, which also defused an IEDs planted by the infiltrators near a forward post in Bhimbher Gali belt of Rajouri district.

Troops guarding the borderline fired on the infiltrating terrorists and they fled to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (Azad Kashmir), a defence spokesman said.

This was the third infiltration bid by Pakistan militants along LoC. On May 10, two militants were killed when Army troops foiled an infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Kalsia belt of Poonch district.

One jawan had suffered injuries in the firing. On May 3, troops foiled an infiltration bid along LoC in Sawjian belt of Poonch district.

Army officials said the ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistani troops were aimed at helping militants infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from the "launching pads" along LoC, where they are waiting to crossover.

There are also inputs that bids to engineer attacks by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) on Indian forward posts and patrolling parties are being planned from across the border, they said.

Pakistan is a bit early in the day to be testing the new government's restrain.

For all his fiery election speeches of being tough on terror and cross border firing from Pakistan.. Now will be the litmus of test of the 'Modi Sarkar', on what kind of a relationship it wants with Pakistan on the LOC.

Will it give Indian army a free hand to give a befitting reply or will it tie its hands like the previous govt and learn to roll with the punches for a larger interest of peace and prosperity in the region?
