First Squadron of JF-17 Inducted on 18/02/2010

It is "in the green" now.

It has gone through rugged trials and testing and has been tested in all regimes be air to air, air to ground. Good news is that due to its admiring performance, it is inducted two months earlier as the initial date as per my knowledge was April-May. Great going Thunder !

The original 26 Sqd is still at Peshawar, and flying the A-5. The pilots of A-5s were not sent to the JF-17s, rather F-16 pilots got transferred to the JF-17s, and the ground technicians are also not of the original 26 Sqd.

So what has happened is that this is kind of a new Sqd raised, but has been given the name of the 26th Sqd, and the original 26 Sqd pilots and other ground crew would most probably be transferred to other Sqds operational.

Yes indeed, the pilots and crew at Kamra were busy in trial , testing and training for over a year in JF17s

Judging from the pictures, it seems No 26 Squadron (Black Spider) has been equipped with the JF-17.
Although home based Peshawar, it has been moved to Minhas Base in Kamra for induction and transition. Once on full strength, it will probably move back to Peshawar.

They are based temporarily at Kamra due to security issues

@TaimiKhan

Since you live in Peshawar, we need at least one high resolution image/week of Thunder from you.

Thanks

An excellent feat indeed, considering the fact how quickly JF-17 project is completed ! Great team work and exceptional discipline to achieve tight time-line by JF-17 project team!

Best of luck and congratulations to all in PAF.

Fighter

It is indeed a big achievement by both countries that today we have witnessed a fighter that is surely reliable yet effective in all regimes. Some may not know that the CAD software used in the development of both thunder and J-10, was supplied to Pakistan by France while the Agusta Submarine went through under ToT arrangement. It is the first Chinese/Pakistani fighter that can be regarded as a mixture of both East and West. In years to come, we will see it transforming into a world class multi-role fighter that will provide a versatile capability at a fraction of a cost. Azerbaijan has confirmed 24, Zimbabwe has confirmed 12, Egypt is negotiating for a whole assembly line under ToT arrangement similar to the K-8 deal and they want to get rid of the Yanks gradually. They are not allowed the AMRAAMS so their Falcons are handicapped in BVR. I see Thunder equipping many air forces in the 21st century.

We must give credit to our Chinese friends who were ready to improvise throughout the development phase as PAF's requirements changed in 99 and then in 2004 after some glitches in performance and changes in flight control and a long range multi-mode radar. Today, it has gained such heights that it is giving our BELOVED Falcons, a run for their money !

any one bring some thunder A5 formation snaps yarrr.im dying here to see.
