Hey forumers, please post all news related to the thread title here. Let's not have multiple threads running on the same topic - sort of defeats the purpose of having a "thread".

Some food for thought:

Is India repeating the same mistake Pakistan did in pre-1971 East Pakistan? They used to call us "gaddars" and "less muslim" to justify the ethnic cleansing. In India, BJP/RSS/Hindutvas call Bengali Muslims (especially those who speak with a non-Kolkata accent) "illegals", "troublemakers" and, I bet very soon, "muslim terrorists".

Will China provide covert support if a war breaks out between India and BD? It's in their interest, as much as it was in India's interest to take advantage of the situation in 1971. I know the very thought of an Indo-BD war sounds outrageous, but don't underestimate BJP's resolve to do something stupid (military aggression) and get super popular with more than half of Indian society!

Silent Genocide? Do you know the definition of Genocide?

Assami muslims themselves call them illegals. So stop the BJP/RSS/Hindutava boogeyman. Its getting stale.

For argument sake, even if it was an ethnic cleansing this will not be a repeat of 71 for two simple reasons,

there is land connectivity between North East and rest of India.

the majority in the region (the North Easterners) themselves are against the bangladeshi muslims.

China will do jack. They did not help Pakistan during '71 or in '99. What makes you think BD is a much closer ally to China than Pakistan ?

For the 1st mentioned part what is your source??? In assam muslim is divided into two groups. One is ingeniousness Assamese muslim and other is bengali muslims those who are living there since 12th century and their number picked in 19th and early 20th century as British brought them there in large number for cultivation of land.

Now the number of ingeniousness assamese muslim number around 2.5 million and Bengali muslim 5.8 million. This is quite normal number and most importantly all the recent census figure have demonstrated there is no influx of muslim in Assam and the large influx of bengalis is Assam mostly due to the hindus not muslims.

Census Figures Nix Illegal Migration Theory

Population growth patterns over the last decade show no Muslim influx

UTTAM SENGUPTA

Wildly fluctuating and suspiciously rounded figures (10 million in 1997 by CPI’s Indrajit Gupta, 20 million by BJP’s L.K. Advani in 2003, 12 million by Congress’s Sriprakash Jaiswal in 2004) of alleged illegal Bangladeshi migrants, based on nothing in particular or attributed vaguely to ‘intelligence reports’, have dominated the discourse on the ethnic strife in Assam. Yet, official census figures tell a completely different story.

In the last three Censuses (1991, 2001 and 2011), decadal growth rates of population have been lower than the national figure.

Also, it’s incorrect that abnormal population growth automatically suggests illegal migration.
Population in Dhemaji district grew dramatically by 74.72 per cent between 1971 and 1991. But 95 per cent of the population happen to be Hindus.

Tripura has a 900-km border with Bangladesh (as compared to 270 kms for Assam) and yet illegal migrants do not seem to be an issue there.

The BJP Member of Parliament, Bijoya Chakrabarty, declared in the Lok Sabha this month that ‘Bangladeshis’ were in a majority in 13 of the 27 districts of Assam. Even the otherwise sober Arun Jaitley, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said in the Rajya Sabha that in both Dhubri and Goalpara districts, ‘foreigners’ constituted 60-80 per cent of the population.

In an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court of India this month, the ministry of home affairs however claimed that electoral rolls in Assam went through several revisions between 1997 and 2005 and there was little possibility of ‘foreigners’ being included in the list. The latest census appears to support the claim.

Population growth in Assam: In absolute terms, the number of people in the state went up by 4.51 million in a decade (45,13,744 to be precise) in the 2011 census (provisional).

Children below the age of 6: The population of children below the age of 6, born after the last census in 2001, is also 4.51 million (45,11,307). The fear of run-away illegal migration, therefore, may well be misplaced.

Decline of population in Kokrajhar: The lowest population growth (5.19 per cent) in Assam has been recorded in Kokrajhar district, the seat of the Bodo Territorial Council, where it has come down from 14.49 per cent in 2001.

Muslim population in Kokrajhar: While figures for population by religion in the 2011 census are yet to be declared, in 1971, Muslims constituted 17 per cent of the population, 19.3 per cent in 1991 and 20.4 per cent in 2001. This clearly does not indicate an alarming growth. Muslims as a whole, constituted 30.9 per cent of Assam’s population (comparative figures are 25.2 per cent for Bengal and 24.7 per cent for Kerala.) Most of the ‘migrant’ Muslims—Indian citizens if they came before April 1971—are forced to live on the shifting sandbars of the Brahmaputra and frequently uprooted by floods. Many migrate to urban centres to work as rickshaw pullers, vegetable vendors and construction workers. Politicians feeding on their fear seem to have pushed them again to the brink.

Now it is better for you lot to come out of the propaganda launched by hindutva terrorists.

Assam Muslims blame perfume baron for unrest - Hindustan Times

Anyway good news is that whole of North East is uniting against the illegal migrants - the Nagas, Bodos, Ahoms etc.The Bangladeshi muslims dont belong here. Census figures are heavily manipulated by the Congress govt to save their votebank. Lies, damned lies and statistics. But those fake figures will not save these migrants when the North Easterners decide enough is enough.

Source? They don't need one. There was this other thread, opened by you, on some census. But.. Hindutvas and..statistical analysis of a census.. kinda funny. ;p

Bhairava: Reading fail. I mentioned "covert". I think they'd love to, provided BJP makes some mis-adventurous move. Or are you subscribing to the hindu-chini vai vai concept? I'd be surprised!

Well China wants to encircle India

Indigenous Muslims are not Bengali Muslims (the topic of this thread). Are you fooling yourself (honest mistake) or trying to fool us. If it's the latter, dig harder - there must be something on the net that confirms your "conviction" (and that's all it is ;p).

Nothing can remain covert for long. And no matter how much China helps BD cant do as much as squat against India. Fact.

Well China wants to encircle India

Well that's different. There's not going to be any Indo-China war in the near future. The encircling games will continue though. But covert support to us is, I think, feasible if a war is imposed on us.

A local can easily identify between a muslim who has been staying there for long and one who is "fresh off the boat", literally. I leave it to their judgement and completely agree to "whatever" action they think is necessary.

How to share Assam - Indian Express

This guy is a present election commissioner in India and his knowledge about the whole thing is much more than what any of the jamatis can cough up here.

The following part says all... this are just a group of ingeniousness muslims not the bengali muslims as a whole. Terming bengali muslims as illegal is denying 800 years of historicalf acts and nothing but discrimination against them. This is mostly done by the hindutva terrorists and those are in competition for land and jobs.

Indigenous Assamese Muslim groups joined the All Assam Students Union (AASU) on Friday in charging the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal with fanning communal sentiments in the wake of the recent violence in Assam.

Article #6 is clear enough to proof that there is no illegal migrants based on census data and the rise of population is mostly due to the hindu bengalis not muslims. Period.

Hey BTW if I read the thread title correctly..its not whether the bengali speaking muslims there are illegal or not, but if the persecution of them will lead to a '71 style mistake and whether China will come to BD's help in case of war with India.

Answer is a NO to both.
