Assam not to be allowed to be part of Bangladesh: Gogoi

Also bangladesh was always part of India by that fact even i believe bangladesh should be a part of India...

We fought a long and prolonged war against the Delhi Mughals. It started in 1526 when the Mughals took over Delhi and the ruling Muslim Pathans fled to Bengal. Bengal army under Sher Shah Suri took over Delhi in 1539, but was ousted in 1556 by Humayun in the Battle of 2nd Panipath.

There was relative peace until 1576, when Pathan Sultan of Bengal was defeated in the Battle of Rajmahal. However, the war continued until 1605, when Bengal went under Delhi. So, Bengal was not always a part of Delhi. It was forcefully annexed to Delhi after almost an 80 year long war.

But, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar and west Bengal was part of Sultanate of Bengal all along. Assam could not be conquested, but muslims from Bengal always migrated to this land since after a failed invasion in 1205 by Ikhtiar-ud-Din Muhammad Bakhtier Khilji. Assam was more a part of greater Bengal than it ever was a part of India or Hindustan.

Forget Delhi. Even before the Mughal conquests, Bengal was part of various classical Hindu empires. Including the Nandas, Mauryas, Guptas, Harsha, Palas, etc.

In fact, Bengal (known as Vanga in ancient times) spent most of its history subodinate to the kingdoms of Magadha and Kalinga (present-day Bihar and Orissa, respectively). It was only until the collapse of Harsha's empire and the emergence of the Palas in the 8th century that Vanga developed a distinct cultural identity.

But all that is ancient history, what does it matter today? Assam is not yours and it never will be! Both our nations have more important things to do then fantasize about irredentist expansion. Especially Bangladesh!

why there would be any illegal bangladeshi in assam .assam is not malaysia that some will like to go .its apolitical claim to attract voter and may be a tool to keep pressure on bangladesh .

Bengali muslims have made Assam their second and also first homes during the last eight Centuries. These people are concentrated in areas near BD border. It is almost impossible for India to develop Assam.

Assam and all other sister States should be give permission by Delhi to deal with Bangladesh independent of central govt. It will cause an increase in trade in the region that consists also of Bangladesh.

Assam has a history of prosecuting Bengalis. I'd take Mr Gogoi with plentiful of salt.

All that Hindu and Muslim talks gets on my nerve, I don't know how is it in Bangladesh but in Indian Bengal, it's only Bengali, not Hindu Bengali/Muslim Bengali.
