What is the Indian Cold Start Doctrine?

Cold Start Doctrine is an 'Exclusively Offensive' military strategy, recently developed by the Indian Military Command (IMC), specifically for Pakistan to replace the outdated 'Sundarji Doctrine' which miserably failed during 2001-2002 standoff with Pakistan.

According to Cold Start Doctrine, India plans to invade and defeat Pakistan just under 72 hours by utilizing quickly Mobilized Armored Units (MAUs) and airpower to formulate the Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs), which India believes would be enough to tear Pakistan into two, without starting a nuclear war.

Well don't know about tear the Pakistan but its about Push and Capture strategy. Its impossible even for superpower to tear apart a country into 2 in few days that also Pakistan. The only possibility is to capture large chunk of border areas with collateral damage.

While about Pakistan Nuclear option it will vaporize if its use any kind of nuke on Indian forces as mentioned by Indian Govt previously.
"India will not be the first to use nuclear weapons, but if it is attacked with such weapons, it would engage in nuclear retaliation which will be massive and designed to inflict unacceptable damage on its adversary. The label on a nuclear weapon used for attacking India, strategic or tactical, is irrelevant from the Indian perspective,” Shyam Saran, Foreign Secretary and the current chairman of India’s National Security Advisory Board

That could be possible if the opposite would have dummies rather than troops, this doctrine is too offensive and yes India needs more time to mobilize due to their large area and by that time Pakistan has an advantage to already reach the places and put heavy defensive positions on the places India wants to cut into two halves, if majority Indian army would be focused on moving through the middle to attack Pakistan "could" cut their back and then from all 4 positions to surround indian forces, if not Pakistan would have the advantage of 2 side walls and india moving through the middle. But this doctrine does seem interesting, but as they say in the video their mobilization needs to be fast.

For those who dont know heads from tails. This includes @Horus

Cold Start is about cutting the deployement time of IA...not to beat PA in its deployment time, but to

1. beat the International Pressure that builds up in 72 hours which forces any country to stop its aggression. Engage Pakistani military with Indian offensive forces (not the pivot corps) before this period ends and allows UN/US to prevent Indian response.

2. beat the Indian political class which starts talking of peace after a couple of days. ie political class loses its appetite for war after a couple of days. GoI's political appetite for war is limited and unless IA is able to start the war within that golden period, GoI will force IA to withdraw and not retaliate.

So partially, IA's motive is to beat GoI and force GoI in a position where it has to start war.

Its all about mobilization india being such a HUGE country would take a long time IF they want to attack with a fighting force they would need numbers, what i keep saying is that india would take time to deploy right amount of strength when Pakistan had a huge advantage of close borders to put troops and defensive positions and then wait for india.

Some Edits to your post
Alleged Cold Start Doctrine is an 'Exclusively Offensive' Retaliatory military strategy, recently developed a decade ago by the Indian Military Command (IMC), specifically for Pakistan to replace the outdated 'Sundarji Doctrine' which miserably failed during 2001-2002 standoff with Pakistan keeping in tune with the strategic realities of the perceived theater of combat.

According to simplistic and naive interpretation of the Cold Start Doctrine, India allegedly plans to invade and defeat Pakistan just under 72 hours by utilizing quickly Mobilized Armored Units (MAUs) and airpower to formulate the Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs), which India believes would be enough to tear Pakistan into two, without starting a nuclear war.

thanks :partay:

What part of my post was unclear?
Pakistan will always be able to deploy faster than India. That does not mean Pakistan will be able to hold out. Progressively Pakistan Military will start folding as India keeps up the offensive.

Half the entire point of Cold Start is not to beat Pakistani Army to the border, Geographically that is extremely hard. The goal is
a)to beat the political constraints that GoI will impose on IA/IAF after a few days and
b)to beat the International pressure on India to avoid retaliation

On the Pakistani side, again the Goal of Cold Start is to NOT capture land and seek out Pakistani military and engage them. The entire idea was to move away from the Sundarji doctrine of capturing land and dividing Pakistan.

Who analyses these things in Pakistan, makes me think they are a bunch of 16 year olds shouting some slogans.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is NO such thing as 'Cold Start Doctrine'. Period!

This was just an article written by a retired Indian Army brigadier a few years ago in a military journal and was promptly grabbed by headline seekers, especially the so called 'defence analysts' of Pakistan as well as the Pakistan Army.

This is total fiction of the Tom Clancy variety.

What's purpose of this new thread on decade old Cold start Doctrine. There is a thread already available and this topic discussed to death,
There are few fundamental errors in your post as highlighted by @sandy_3126 in post #8.

I seriously doubt that you are on for serious discussion. It looks like mere trolling attempt and providing strength to perception that you are trolling excessively after changing your name. :P

So do we have an anti cold start doctrine? -
