Bangladesh Students Protest l Updates, News & Discussion

The shameless BAL has illegally usurped 153 Parliament seats out of 300 and is now trying to cling to power through repression by its BCL caders. The continuous street movement by the students proves how unfit this BAL is at the head of a government.

Good!

It must resign and declare a new date for the general election. Otherwise, a day is coming when the population will force them all to take shelter in their BandhuDesh India. BGB should be vigilant of their illegal trespassing through the border.

Nah we will arm them and get them to fight inside BD for some decades...a long civil war might be just what the doctor ordered for BD.

India is just a poisonous snake ready to bite from the behind and is not a tiger that can attack frontal because of dire consequence that it is not capable to withstand. In a civil war in BD the party supported by India will be exterminated by the people.

Good, we will support both sides. Why burn a rope from one end only?

Now sit back and enjoy current phase: Making sure BAL wins this year and culling enough oxygen thieves to accomplish it.

BNP has extended its support to the ongoing student movement and demanded government’s resignation for failure on all fronts, including restoration of discipline in the transport sector.

The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said, "We're giving full support to the logical demand of the students."

Speaking at BNP's Nayapaltan central office, he also demanded resignation of the government for its failure on all fronts, including restoration of discipline in the transport sector.

Mentioning that the government is destroying all the institutions and people's all hopes and aspirations through its dreadful misrule and repression, Fakhrul called upon people to put up a strong resistance against it to ensure its fall.

Students of different schools and colleges took to the streets for the fifth consecutive day today, demanding safe roads and punishment of those responsible for Sunday's road accident that killed their two fellows in the city.

OK start next " Andolon" after Eid (don't know after which years Eid their "andolon"") will start . BNP can only talk now nothing going to happen govt is going to declare another "selection" from October.

BNP's Begum Zia is a born stupid. She bargained for such a long time that she could not catch the election train last time. Hasina used Ershad tactfully and Khaleda fondly bit the bait. The Result was an uncontested 153 MP seats for BAL out of 300.

But, this time the situation is different. No seat will be given to that BAL without contest. During the last three months before the election, the administrative people become almost passive. I hope BNP and other parties can win more seats than the BAL and JP combined.

What is the basis of your optimism that the country will run better if BNP+Jamat comes to power instead of AL?
I actually do not mind whatever party comes to power, BAL, Jamaat, JP, BNP or any other including a coalition of parties. What I want is a proper democratic system to set in to benefit the future. No one should be allowed to hijack an election. A democratic system creates a situation whereby parties get elected as well as also ousted unless able to deliver goods. But, now the country is void of any democracy since before the last election.

The country needs new political forces centered around strong personalities with a vision for the future of the country. But, now no one is seen on the horizon. Is it because the days of organizing public meetings have become outdated? Is it due to the govt. hindrance or is it that the public is not willing to hear the speeches in the loudspeakers? But, in our society, this is how the leadership was formed in the past. However, it may have been replaced by the Talk Shows on the TV.

Article 70 of the Constitution is another hindrance against democracy and the rise of new political personalities and forming a new political alliance has become almost impossible. The country should get rid of it. Article 70 is against the main thinking of Westminster style Parliamentary democracy.

So, either you abolish Article 70 or abolish the present "Na Ghar Ka Na ghat Ka" styled Parliamentary system and replace it with a Presidential system whereby the President is an Executive President.

Anyway, an election system itself is not the only requirement. It must be accompanied by a strong and neutral administration that will serve the country and not a political party of one's choice.

Ok keep hoping, it will be fun to rig the elections and lathi charge the masses back to their little dwellings, paddy fields and sweathshops if they get angry at the result. Round two will be live bullets.

Who would India like to win in 2019?:

1. AL - Full economic and military developments leading to a strong BD.

2. BNP- Both economic and military developments are halted while the BNP settle scores on the AL.

Pakistan should Call back its diplomatic staff as BD plunges in lawlessness and chaos

Long story short - it is now abundantly clear that the next generation's education and intelligence has exceeded the governing capability of the schmucks now in power. Go students !!!!
Spot on, you hit the nail in the head. I do hope we see young political leadership at the national level soon.
Flushing the Khaleda, Moudud gang out of BNP would be a good start so that we have a credible opposition.

It's better without BNP's support tbh..
The current spineless leadership just cannot cease being parasites. They rely on JI's organsational strength to run election campaigns and are now piggy backing on kids in an attempt to gain back some relevance. Utterly pathetic.
