Does anyone here remember the original PDF?
It was run by a different group of Pakistanis. I joined that forum first (didn’t know about this one then) and lasted for maybe a week or two, hounded out by the Pakistanis there who took offense at my name but also interpreted my ‘balanced’ (at least to me at the time) posts as meaning I was an ‘Indian in disguise’.
Even now I’ll get the occasional taunt of secretly being an Ahmadi because of some of the socio-religious positions I take.
I’ve been at the receiving end of accusations such as these at the hands of the ultra-jingoistic & conservative crowd, found my bearings on this forum and saw that ultra-jingoism and paranoia destroy the ‘original PDF’.
Hounding out those with a different view point is sounding the death knell of any discussion platform. What keeps things interesting is the fact that we don’t agree and can have lively debates.
The flip side & challenge is keeping everyone civil during these lively debates.
A post of this degree of maturity and balance shames all of us who have not taken a clear-cut stand in the matter. There is no point in blaming the crowd; one must start with oneself.
@Shantanu_Left
You deserved better. It is a principle of the legal system that we follow at the moment that an accused person is innocent until proven guilty. There has been nothing from your side that has compellingly demonstrated bad faith or duplicity; we had - I had - no business in sitting in judgement, and, after reading that stinging post from
@AgNoStiC MuSliM (it would sting all of us with a conscience), even no business in suspending judgement. Until you bathe yourself in moral obloquy, you must be deemed a proper member in good standing.
@IMARV, this is for you; do not be disappointed. I think that the evidence against this member's conduct is too skimpy to conclude anything one way or the other; the usages of 'you Indians', and his primitive attitude towards women has nothing to do with his credibility. Besides, it is for us to examine our positions; if we have made a mistake in accepting, in good faith, a member's self-declaration of affiliation, nothing is written in stone, and we can always humbly conclude that we were wrong and abandon our positions. Finally, it is none of our business; there is a full-fledged administration to review these things.
This issue is as dead as a door-nail to me henceforth.
There is something far more serious at work. This entire discussion has veered around to the trial by kangaroo court of an individual member. That is not the subject of this thread. We should be discussing the original post, not other extraneous matters. On that original post, I am unable to imagine any Indian member who would object to its sharp analysis and piercing insight. It sums up the position extremely well; let us confine ourselves to that subject, and not try the patience of our good friend - as an agnostic Hindu, I can only smile wryly at the predicament that he describes.
Would anyone have anything to say, good or bad, about the OP? It needs support, or it needs constructive criticism. Which of these is it to be?
Really hoping and praying for your health!!
You can do, you are a fighter!!!
With your blessings and good wishes, bhaiyya, I cannot fail. Thank you.
