Sir syed ahmad was naughty boy. He was married early at the age of 19.

Later became religious. His first paper was about earth movement and said earth is still and sun is moving and second paper was about is it ok for muslims to eat mangos?

He then started interacting with the British people and worked for them and learnt English.

And came to conclusion, way forward is modern education.

Wrote tafheem ul quran very different interpretation of religion

You can eat with British it’s not a sin.

Jihad is not compulsory.

Not darul harb

Although British are non-muslims but they will be good with you when you are good with them.

Supporter of free thought.

Go with science even if go against religious things taught in the books

More than five thousand fatwas of kufar against sir syed ahmad and attempts of murder against him.

Two Iqbal before and after going to Europe.

He wrote paper metaphysics of Persia

Only one thing he done in philosophy

He started hating philosophy

And wrote poems against it

Azadi-e-afkar hai ablees ki ijaad

Free though is devils’ work

Wrote book in 1930

in his letter to sister said
wasted his life studying philosophy

physics is a revolt against matter

the concept of matter received greatest blow at the hands of Albert Einstein

Reconstruction of religious though in islam

We knew about theory of relativity long ago even before Albert Einstein

Under atta-ur-reham between 2002 and 2012

Budget for higher education increased ten times

Biggest increase in budget for higher education but still result is zero for science

We need to change the mindset

The important thing is that both have being recognized by the British by awarding the knighthood .

.
They both had one thing in common. They were among religious transformation wing of British empire whose goal was to control muslims by their own religion which they did by empowering such people and Mirza Ghulam who was admired by Iqbal.
Also Syed Ahmad was a freemason and Iqbal praised Mirza Ghulam and was his follower and was knighted by the Queen for his literary service to the empire.

Indian Freemasonry remained an overwhelmingly European institution, as racialist ideology proved impossible to eradicate.
Nonetheless, multiracial lodges in India gradually became more common, as at least a fifth of all the lodges operating in India during the 1870s included an indigenous element.
Masonry began to serve as a meeting ground between colonizers and colonised, and through its teachings it was thought that racial tensions could be calmed.
The British only made the brotherhood accessible to Indians because they thought it would help strengthen the empire.
This idea culminated in 1877, when the Prince of Whales (English GrandMaster) visited Bombay to lay the foundation stone of the Elphin stone docks. The Masonic ceremony included English, Parsi, Muslim and Hindu Masons, and the Prince officially congratulated his fellow Masons on the flourishing conditions of the Craft in India.
By the end of the nineteenth century, Masonry in India was facilitating European and Indian public interactions, and according to Masons in London, this aided in making Indians loyal subjects to Queen Victoria.
Thus Masonry was central to the expansion and maintenance of the British Empire, especially after 1857, when mechanisms to control indigenous populations were needed more than ever by the British state

ALLAM MUHAMMAD IQBAL Religion vs Science

Iqbal, “The truth is that religious and scientific processes, though involving different methods, are identical in their final aim. Both aim at reaching the most real. In fact, religion, for reasons which I have mentioned before, is far more anxious to reach the ultimately real than science. And to both the way the way to pure objectivity lies through what may be called the purification of experience. In order to understand this we must make a distinction between experience as a natural fact, significance of the normally observable behaviour of Reality, and experience as significant of the inner nature of reality.................. The birth of Islam, as I hope to be presently to prove to your satisfaction, is the birth of inductive intellect. In Islam prophecy reaches its perfection in discovering the need of its own abolition ”

Einstein in his essay “Science and Religion”
“Science can only be created by those who are thoroughly imbued with the aspiration towards truth and understanding. This source of feeling, however, springs from the sphere of religion. To this there also belongs the faith in the possibility that the regulations valid for the world of existence are rational, that is, comprehensible to reason. I cannot conceive of a genuine scientist without that profound faith. The situation may be expressed by an image: science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”

Once Iqbal advised Dr. Maulvi Abdul Haq to translate scientific books from English to Urdu so that Indian Muslims could learn more and more about science, when Dr. Haq asked him which scientific book he should translate first of all, Iqbal immediately suggested George Sarton’s ‘An Introduction to the History of Science’.

Science is predominantly concerned with the how question whereas religion is concerned with answering the why question the real and ideal intersection between the two is a null set
It's actually the ideological atheist which uses science as a weapon against religion so

as far as abrahamic religions are concerned they are trying or striving for nothing rather their purpose and function is to answer all of our why question which we can never answer ourselves satisfactorily ever no matter what we do or achieve for example why we are here ? because this planet is better off without us, what is our purpose and function on this planet if any ? does our self conscious intelligence our individual story/ history end with the death of our body ? etc
Questions like these and others can't be answered by a reductionistic/materialistic/inductive mode of inquiry hence the need for religion and philosophy.

Syed Ahmed Khan did the following great service to the Nation by establishing Aligarh Muslim University But he was also a traitor by helping the brits in 1857 war of independence. He made fun of the freedom fighters. Nevertheless, he is dead now. His decision is with Allah (SWT). In my view we should remember him for his service to the nation.

No offense but there is a difference between seeking truth and seeking fact.
