by the way it not important , you simply won't shoot down an airplane when you are no at the war with that country for several second of violation of air space you escort it out, as a matter of fact it was not even several second of violation by them if your map is true it shows that the second that airplane entered your airspace you shoot it down , the plane was no even 20m in your space before you fired the missile.

Turkey's PM has a point here. Unless Turkish planes fires at Russian jets, Russia has no right to shoot down any Turkish fighter jet on Syrian airspace. Syrian airspace doesn't belong to Russia. Since everyone are having a field day on Syrian skies these days, Turkey can do what ever she likes to protect her interest at that part of the region just like others. Yes if Turkey indulges with Russian fighter jets intentionally than its a totally different ball game.

The Russians will try to take down a jet or two, just for revenge. The Turks have realized that and they are warning Russia that it won't be allowed. Turkish jets patrol parts of Syria where allied forces operate, and that's NOT Russian airspace violation. So the Russians have no right to shoot down anyone.

This is the right approach, to let the other party know that retaliating in a different country's airspace would mean a response back, such as taking out the S-400 batteries at the minimum.

This is similar to when Pakistan took out two intruding Mig's a long time ago. But to settle the score even, the Indians took out a four propeller naval plane with PN's officers on-board. A plane that couldn't even defend itself or get into a combat situation as its a bigger plane similar to passenger planes.

So here, Erdogan is trying to let the Russians know that he knows the game plan and there better not be a retaliation, as it'll escalate these things. Last time the Russians did this, they became Russia from the USSR. And this time, they might turn into Republic of Moscow!!

Why isn't it fair? Syrian army is Syria's legitimate army, isn't it? Turkey supports rebels, Syria fights rebels and shoots down a Turkish jet over its territory. Russians were called in by the same Syrian army.

The issue is who is more legitimate, the rebels supported by Turkey or the Syrian army that governed the state for decades?
