Haha now Turkey has started designing its own tank engine, all of the countries that threatened turkey with withholding engines are crapping their pants because they just lost a customer and now they will have a new competitor. Big mistake made by them, they should have let Turkey export motorized platforms without making an issue regarding them using their motors, that way Turkey would have still been dependent on them and they could have made more money.
People thought that they could threaten Turkey with restrictions, sanction etc., instead of kneeling down Turkey overcame these obstacles by maximizing indigenous contribution to all projects. In the end Turkey is the winner.
Do you know If German FEV have a 1500hp powerpack solution ?
About schedule, It will take aprox. 5 and max 7 years as It is predicted at the beggining and It is impossible to catch production of Altay MBT, As long as a serious delay don't occur the serial production agenda or Tumosan don't directly licence a foreign engine to establish licence production infastructure to catch production of Altay. It is not important What CEO or Politicians claim. NATIONAL powerpack requires 5 to 6-7 years from now, While Altay trials will be finalized around this years.
What means 'FEV'? Is their decision by SSM, that Otokar get the surcharge to produce turkish MBT?
I would say yes, they are able to.
So they actually decided to get their own one instead of foreign products.
Best of luck to you guys

Actually they did, some of the elements which have been applied were indeed possible with helps from obscure german partner . In fact, it wouldn't have needed any kind of external assistance if the development was conducted within much bigger firms: hyundai or STX(it has been successful with developing transmission). Whereas Doosan was just the worst unqualified candidate for this kind of research. I just don't know how the policy makers were thinking at the time. With foreign help ofcourse, seems like you koreans could have used some foreign help

There's literally no reason for choosing doosan as the developer. Hyundai, needless to say, one of the best automotive companies with the best engine technologies, STX, not as much as the hyundai does but also a very capable company, has lots of experiences with licensed production of MTU engines for decades; doosan, in the mean time, haven't done anything, constantly relying on the external help, and yet they've failed to meet up with the initial requirement. From what i understand Doosan is a big cluster fuckk of an company. Many other Korean analysts showed their disgust for the company and its history of failures. We can understand since we have a similair organisation, named MKEK.
