"We Need To Be Careful!" - Is India Going To Be The Next China?

If you see their moves in the US, I am starting to think we are underestimating them.
US represents the best Indians have to offer, it's the best of them that migrate. And yes they are quite influential and have penetrated very deep into certain circles and industries.

But as a whole Indians don't compare to Chinese societally. Chinese are intelligent and ruthless when it comes to business and national interests.

That being said India is still much better organised than Pakistan with more powerful institutions unforunately

China will probably try use its influence to offset some labour of its own to Pakistan as theirs begins to increase considering its one of their closest
maybe, miracles do happen. Folk in Pakistan often express that hope However, not once has China or Chinese said anything of the sort.

No, you are going down there to meet third world standard fast

Air pollution is temporary..it simply floats away...

The real issue is permanent soil and water pollution which will negatively impact future generations.

Ruining your environment so some kid in Honduras can buy a nice pair of shiny leather shoes isn't worth it.

Like to know how China improved water quality, actually that is something really impressed me, my personal experience is better than any western smearing.

That's not solving groundwater issues that farmers use for crops.

We have a nice River flowing through Boston that was cleaned up..however nobody uses it for drinking water or irrigation...so it solved nothing other than aesthetics for the city.

Laziness in Gwadar has stalled that.

Do you know this project? the biggest project ever undertaken in the human history

Beefing India up is going to hit Pakistan in some way.

Pakistan runs on copium.

India as the next China is something that Indians want

We need to see more on their Q4 2022 economic growth to see if that is really the case. India will likely keep growing at 5 % and surely their economy will become quite big. I see their previous hight growth is more related to low base effect since their economy was plung at negative 7.7 % in 2020 due to Covid, there will be 2 years high growth to compensate that plung in growth. Something that is similar like Malaysia. This Q4 2022 that will be released in late February will be quite important to see India real economic future growth. Just hold your breath.....

Dont bee too much rely on Western FDI though, they focus more on their preference countries. Indonesia FDI in majority come from Far East region (Singapore, Hongkong, China, Japan, South Korea). USA has become number 5 last year for FDI origin.

India FDI is about 44 billion USD in 2021, the same like Indonesia FDI in 2022. We need to see UNCTAD latest data for India since India government FDI calculation is pretty bias as they also incorporate investment flow into their financial as FDI. This UNCTAD number is better than Indian Government FDI calculation.

Pakistan competition with India is more like USSR competition with USA. USSR is pretty big, but they cannot really match to compete with USA, this that make them fall in 1990. Of course one of the reasons USSR fall is their private sector that is not developed due to their economic system that is praised by @jamahir

Better be realistic on defense budget and push the economic competitiveness on the country rather than sucking too much resources on defense procurement that majority are imported.

Whether 'India will become like China'
a) Will not be dependent upon one quarter of data,
b) India has grown 6% to 7% over decades not 5%
c) Will not be dependent on comparisons with Malaysia/ Indonesia
e) Next time you want to make points sounding all smart and intelligent but fundamentally nonsense, make sure you cook them up in threads where people with understanding of economics don't visit
