UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is said to have been informed about French-Iraqi contacts over the possibility of Iraq buying a part of the Mirage 2000-9 fighter jets in service with the UAE Air Force (UAEAF).

Tactical Report has prepared a 332-word report to shed more light on the subject.

@CamelGuy Not sure how credible this is, but if its true than its good news.

This has been reported several times in the past ~5 years, a few months ago reports came of Iraq seeking to buy Qatar's Mirage 2000's.

The only thing that is known is that Iraq is looking for fighter jets, the rest is unconfirmed. There have been talks on S-400 but US pressure seems to have made them re-consider it

Tacticalreport also fabricates news reports to have people purchase them

Patriot missile?

US doesn't sell that to Iraq, neither AIM-120. The country isn't an official ally the way Jordan, Turkey, GCC states are. It's neutral officially

Don't know many, Iraq has pantsir S-1 for short-range air defense. No medium or long range AD

There is no smoke without fire..this has been reported many times..a batch will go to iraq and another to Egypt.. but both have to wait for what replacement the UAE will decide on..Rafale or something else..also the time of delivery of those replacements..so give it at least 5 years...after the UAE order of the new planes..

The own presence of the Pantsir indicates the high probability that Iraq will go with S-400 and maybe the S-350..

S-400 was/is the choice for medium-long range AD and both countries were negotiation a deal. What put it on hold was US pressure of sanctions

seems like iraq has interests in talash system??
120 KM range, 27 KM flight ceiling, ABM capability.

UAE have a contract with France to upgrade them Iraq have a good chance to have inexpensive modern aircraft happy for iraq

legally they can't block any defensive weapon transfer but backdoor ways, possibly.
US pressured Iraq not to get S-300 as CamelGuy stated and they succumbed. Its likely the same would happen if Iraq wanted to buy Iranian SAM systems.
