What's new

Pakistani Biharis used to treat us, Bengalis as their slaves - Mukti Bahini fighter

Wow,this song brings me back to when I was watching a serie called "L'enfer du devoir".
The original name in english is "Tour of Duty",have you ever watched it ? :D

Oh yeah I watched that show a lot back in the day hehe.

Im glad I have it on VHS.....the new re-casts they are showing now have none of the awesome soundtrack due to copyright issues that have now popped up :(

Kids these days only know the music from games now :hitwall:

BD claim of everything destroyed during the war is false as due to the war PK had a minor blip in per capita and BD went ahead . But they went stagnant during the 80's and 90's and didn't improve much compared to PK and India . BD was affected alright but not to an extend that bengali's claim . The country was pretty much stagnant due to bad policies from 70's all the way to the new millennium . So blaming Pakistan for lesser GDP per capita and poverty is baseless when they had a bigger per capita at the time of their independence .

Yes those were the 2 lost decades for BD. But I don't even have to bring that up to counter this silly nonsense some BD's put out of 1971 being liberation from total looting etc etc. when bureaucratic efficiency has ALWAYS been the main issue (independent of available capital stock).

Interesting just move the cursor to 1970 for interesting facts .

1970

Pakistan GDP per capita 169 USD
BD GDP per capita 135 USD
India GDP per capita 114 USD

1971

Pakistan 174
BD 129
India 120

1972

PK 148
India 125
BD 91

1973

India 143
BD 115 ( BD actually went ahead on per capita after the war )
PK 98

Fast forward 10 years

1981

PK 358
India 279
BD 207 ( they had squandered the lead)

Yes you are able to prove your point by a few numbers!

BD was a mess in the 1970s due to 1971 war and it only
got back on it's feet in the 1980s.

If BD did not have to subsidise W Pakistan
for 24 years then it could have used the money
to build up infrastructure to industrialise.

Why is BD growing 6% a year average since mid-1990s with population growth of only 1%?

Impartial observers said BD was used as as virtual
colony so their views are more credible than either Pakistanis or BD'shis.

Do you have any idea how much infrastructure BD
could have built up with jute revenue in the 1950s and 1960s?

Next to nothing given your crap bureaucracy....which you still have.

All development is IN SPITE of it, not because of it....i.e giving enough time for people with means and education to start businesses and grow them. When this increases over time, it helps the country more than anything else.

It would be the case whether you are part of Pakistan or not pre-1971.

Speaking that BD would have hypothetically had a better bureaucracy is pretty dumb.....have a look at what it is like right now.

You could have been a lot worse as well without W. Pakistan. Its just as likely as what you are saying since no one has the complete picture.

So things like roads, bridges , railways, power stations
and bridges are built by the comman man rather than goverment?

You are a really stupid person.

Pakistan still is richer per capita than you, has much lower poverty and various other things going for it.

Its growth is lower mostly because for various reasons they have not got their GCF high enough, though they are trying to get the ball rolling with CPEC so lets wait and see.

You see Bangla babus out there building them?

How was it in a mess when 2 years after the war your income was higher than us ? Pakistan was in a bigger mess after 47 than BD was in 71 . Our income was few dollars and little factories to boost . That's it . But you don't see us blaming partition for our faults . BD even didn't have an adversary 6 times bigger to worry about . But we still managed to crawl back on our feet and in a matter of decade our economy was one of the fastest growing in asia .

for BD every evil has to start and end at 1971 . It's time you stop blaming it for your short comings

BD is growing at over 7% a year and will spend at least
50 billion US dollars between now and 2024 on building
infrastructure. Special Economic zones are being set up all over the country. It is a country looking forward to the future with confidence.

Pakistan period is mentioned to illustrate how much of
an economic failure India has been since 1947.

Our Stock Exchange is spitting fire as i speak and setting records left and right . The difference in growth isn't much though . This year we grew by 5 % .

I actually wish Pakistan well but...

Take off 1% as Pakistan population grows 2% a year and BD population 1%. There is still a huge 3% difference in GDP/ capita growth.

Then how does it work?

The base compounding effect mitigates it especially over time.

Plus we have to look at the overall trends of how the growth rates are changing.

They cannot be taken as one off snapshots.

Pakistan is improving now and also bringing down its population growth.

Look forward to the day these guys get out of this time-warp....the world has moved on, we have moved on. So should BD. The rhetoric gets old and nobody cares.

India didn't start kicking until 2001 circa . Before that they were quite poor , it wasn't until 1991 they found out something needed to be done . On per capita they overtook us around 2008-09 coinciding with our bad terrorism days (which thankfully seems to be over ) .

There are alot of things you can't blame 1971 for . Like corruption , lack of sporting culture , lack of world class universities , lack of planned cities , infrastructure (45 years is enough).

Within 20 years of our birth we already had the fastest growing economy in asia , build world ranking universities and was winning sports left and right. You cant let 71 keep on bogging you down or mess with your concious.

The Gap between income , poverty , infrastructure and many things have never decreased between Pakistan and BD. In some cases it has remain constant or Pakistan has pulled ahead despite your growth.

So will BD once the large infrastructure projects
and Special Economic Zones are completed.
BD has been growing quicker than Pakistan since 1990s.
It is not off events like terrorism but a more
underlying feature of the two economies.

Lastly dude -Pakistan population growth rate has gone up to above 2% from the around 1.6% in mid-2000s

Thanks for putting your efforts. But BD didnt totally became independent after 71. Different foreign intelligence agency creation anti national parties such as BNP/JeI took over the country in an agenda to undermine the growth and stability of the country. They didnt lay any significant infrastructures in the country, no roads, power plants, planned cities and even no military equipment. Only some handful number of people ruled the country and looted everything, killed everyone who opposed them only razakar families were employed in public services. This way BD became vulnerable to every kinds of worst things you can imagine. BD only became truly independent after 2009 election after thwarting the anti BD alliance. BD will progress as long as these anti BD people are away.
