Pakistan officially inducts HQ 9 Air Defence system

That is not really that relevant. It helps but the key question is do the onboard sensors, radars etc. have the ability to detect, track and engage a supersonic cruise missile? With longer range sam, it may be able to intercept a bit sooner as the max speed takes time to build up. Other option is ciws but those are very short range, and at most may just protect these SAM batteries.
HQ-9 has Ballistic Missile (in terminal phase, which is worst case scenario) interception range of probably 25 km. So it can definitely tackle supersonic missiles too. Modern SAM systems are capable of shooting down supersonic targets, that's why global powers are working on hypersonic missiles.

The only issue with cruise missile is to detect and track them as they are more stealthy and have low flight altitude. If it flies on plain surface without any terrain hindrance then its most probably be detected, tracked and neutralized. There are a lot variables in play but capability is obviously there.
This complicates Indian planning greatly, even at a 250km range it means all stand off weapons bar Bhramos (of which they only have a few capable aircraft to fire it) will be out ranged. Even Brahmos will have to be fired at extreme ranges. Further it provides a 250km air defence umbrella around Karachi making life very tough for the Indian Navy.

Additionally US will now know that the air corridor it has over Pak can be shut done in an instant by a system they have very little knowldge of (HQ-9 not been exported to anyone else yet)
AIR corridor can be shut down anyways. Don't require HQ-9, it just requires the balls to shut down air corridor.

This is excellent news and a good step in the right direction - good to see Pakistan "finally" sees the value of long range SAMs - I suspect this is one of the lessons 'learnt' from the Feb 2019 incident - and while the range may not be what Pakistan requires ie 400km - it offers the stepping stone to 400km as China is developing the HQ-9C to be a competitor to the S400 and when that happens, Pakistan will purchase it.

This variant must be a derivative of the HQ-9B as China has stopped manufacturing the HQ-9A some time ago and the HQ-9B was tested in Feb 2006.

Of course, if Turkey produces a system of the HQ-9C/S400 class - then of course Pakistan will take a look - but Pakistan has now taken the first step, this is exciting news.

The HQ-9B has been inducted and declared FOC before India receives her S400 system!!!

Given that Pakistan has now "offically" bought into the HQ-9 series, subsequent versions will be much easier to integrate to the AD network as alot of the ground work will have been done by this procurement.

I wonder what will happen with India's obsession with surgical strikes? This sytem was unveiled 1 day after Amit Shah said he wanted surgical strikes.. lol !!!!

VT-4, Type-054A Frigates, Chinese JY-27A Anti-Stealth Radar, PL15E - very good upgrades to Pakistan's arsenal recently.

The JY-27A combined with a SARH and IR warhead on the HQ-9P and also the HQ-16, make for a very interesting combination!!!

Any indication anywhere of how many units have been purchased ?
It looks like Pakistan is gearing up to fight the US :pakistan: :azn::yay::lol:

Submarines are in the pipeline too. Only J-20/Project AZM remains to be confirmed :cheesy::omghaha: then we would be ready to take on the US too :pdf:
Some great inductions by PA in recent years

Armor: VT4, AK1
Air Defence: HQ16, HQ9
MBRL: A100, Fateh 1

Now needed

Army Aviation: New Gunship helicopter to replace Cobras
Artillery: New Wheeled Artillery
Every artillery has wheels except mortars :D:lol:

Exceptional buy.
Incoming Indian airforce formations face a mammoth task as ;
Pakistan's airspace is one of the most saturated with AWACS in the world.
Now the ability to engage them before they cross the border with the HQ-9.
On top of this you have the PAF intercepting.
Above all no need to scramble jets on air defense duty. Just fire missiles on those indian jets who even dare to get close to the border. No more sir g Kal bullshit.

There is a 10km buffer zone on each side of the border both countries have agreed not to fly warplanes in during peace time.

You saw how low life Indians put a military code on a civillian plane with 150 passengers. Imagine if our AD blindly shot it down as you are suggesting.

This is why in the event of a war, the airspace is totally shut down. Then you can be sure every violator is indeed a bandit.

It all depends upon the system and maturity of it. I have no idea what development would be in place now but what is always going to be more important than tools is their interoperability. That is what the PAF has focused on more than the IAF and is its greatest force multiplier.

Considering Indians have the best IT sector in the world with fantastic subject matter expert’s on integrating both different software protocols and hardware systems - its a mystery why their systems are mostly struggling to talk to each other or facing basic API integration issues on the backend.
It's business.
Their defence industry is run by influential business men and military has little say in how the "business " is being run.
Thankfully we don't have that problem in Pakistan.

P.S. why do you think Nirbhay fails so frequently? Because Bradmos won't sell if Nirbhay is successful, and Brahmos had less than half the orders it was originally intended for .

Peace is secured - at least from overt means. Economically, politically and covertly through media and hybrid war India is landing blows upon blows.
Now we should grow some balls and rejoin the Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar and Malaysia media warfare alliance to punch the Indian hybrid war into their faces and burry them down beneath the soil forever.

Just imagine, media giants of the Turkey and Qatar along with soft power projection of all those countries in fields of tourism, economic and political prowess of the member nations and one of them is a NATO member too.

By looking at curious arguments about range, I would rather say that let it be checked by Intruder and see if it is 100 or 200 or around 275+- km with confirm kill zone.

Absolutely put each corrupt politician inside a drone and check the efficiency, reliability and range of the system. Well fed politicians at the shorter ranges and the one on the liberal diet bit further for the assured kill, if all else fail drone must have self destruct mechanism in case. Its a Chinse mall according to the Indians we need to blow up few of their assets to persuade them away from the surgi -cal strikes.

While we need to be more rational about engagement ranges (considering earth is not flat unlike the indians who seem to think so when talking about S400s), I still believe it is a great addition.

The word "strategic" being thrown around will give us a hint about possible protection arcs.

One For ISB/RWP (Covers approach to PAC and many strat org factories).

One to cover Sargodha arc.

One somewhere else in the middle.

One for KHI.

The above placements are my guesses (if we build up a force of 4+ units).
One unit is based in Taxila, covering the concentration of Pakistan’s military industrial complex plus Islamabad including POF, HIT, PAC, AERO, NESCOM, PINSTECH, Khanpur Facility, KRL and much more that is not known publicly. Another one is covering the Mianwali, Chashma Sargodha axis and one will cover Karachi. Rest of the country including the Lahoris can cover their own a$$es.

What if Army panics and launches those missiles in fog of war and hit friendly jets in the sky! I am too surprised by Army's acquisition of long range SAMs. Maybe air force wasn't willing to get them instead preferred to concentrate more on fighters. Now airforce would have to cooperate and integrate their systems with Army to avoid any friendly fire incident.

i believe we are moving towards all three forces integrated AD system

Except there are now 4 Units with more on the way.

Why does one need to cover Lahore? What strategic assets lie there other than historical monuments or historical “districts”. Pakistan cannot function without its primary port, its capital or its key production facilities. It can very well survive without arts &crafts. There are other assets to protect the military infrastructure at Lahore but no Lahori should be whining about not seeing the PAF over it.

One is for future use in Srinagar

Get the joke🤪. I am from Lahore and I am OK if it doesn’t get the cover. Lahoris can scare the Indians with their bluster. You must be from Karachi for having taken a joke about Lahore so seriously.
