Pakistan in talks with US to procure latest F-16 jets: Air chief

Performance and operations could also mean that the reliability and sortie rate of JF-17s is at par with F-16s......that means a lot as well. SU30 might be superior, but it's reliability and sortie rate is absolute crap with IAF. In war i need jets that can be up and running in the air without long downtime and MTBFs

Since the f-16 was designed to be very proficient during the cold war, it was no doubt, a gold benchmark....and with PAF developing it's own jet and access to F-16s, it makes sense to make something that reliable.

That makes sense. Payload performance and endurance is inferior, but reliability and sortie rates are at par. Something must have been lost in translation.

F-16 can not carry our home produced and Chinese weapons like ALCM, C-802 and CM -400 AKG. Hence the need for JF-17. JF-17 can not carry as much load (6000kg vs 3700kg) and can not fly as long and as far. Hence the need for F-16.

Yes, it is therefore not at par in all aspects, as clarified above.

The Air Chief was talking to people, 99% of whom cannot see beyond their nose. Translation or lost in translation is a topic for the year 2115.

Yes, the bloody civilians must be idiots. :D

Until recently, only the F-16 had the capability to carry the Mk-84 on it's wing stations, the JF-17 could only manage one on the centreline pylon, however with wing roots strengthened, the JF-17 also demonstrated this capability at the recently held fire-power demo. The JF-17 has also the maritime strike ability, something not often associated with the F-16.(?).

Lots of F-7s and Mirage III/Vs to replace, makes sense rather than going for J-10B.

“We are in talks with US defence officials to get some latest F-16s but the deal may take some time,” the Air chief said while talking to reporters after the rolling out ceremony of the 16th JF-17 Thunder aircraft at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra.

What the heel

In first place PAF says it started JF 17 programme due to restriction on F 16 sale and spare parta whenn needed

Than why going back to same junk on which US dictates how and when to use

Than most coutries are retiring them and buying new PAF theory i challange you will only hurt us going on same stupid idea which we suffered

J 10 was a better choice if we want to use single engine jet atleast reliable source in time when whole congress on payroll of india in war time they will block spares for F 16

Above all today i assure you all these F 16 will blown away against rafale and SU 30

OUR PAF STRATEGY THINK TANK SUCKS

when SU 35 is on cards why buy a less jet in same price my mind blows

I oppose this sale

.
I don't think that PAF personnel doesn't know about all these facts. Despite several adversaries in the past and doubts in mind regarding stop of parts etc if there is war, PAF think tanks knows how they are playing and is it to play till last or just keep busy someone with this, who knows. However, always hope for the best and trust the seniors and professionals. So let them say NO once and there will be new strategy indeed.

Pakistan Zindabad

.
I have written in my several posts that in the case of Pak India war USA will stop F 16 spare parts and its weapons. PAF should have its alternate such as J 10 or SU 35. I hope Russia will not want to sacrifice its trade for India.

.
Technologically at par, not physically. F-16 is medium weight class, JF-17 is light weight......around 3 tonnes of difference in their respective payload ability.

Actually, with the IRST or AESA, JF-17 will surpass F-16 in detection ability....and the SD-10Bs are as good as the AIM120 C5s
i thought paf has th sd-10a's, where did the b varient come from and wheres your evidance?
this new order of f16s will be more advanced han the current blk52's that paf has. most likely with and aesa (sabre) so in terms of bvr the new f16's will be superior in this feild. but in terms of wvr im not sure as f16 do not have and irst but an irst21 would solve that.

1-PAF has SD-10A, B version has been in testing since long, and it is obvious that PAF would want to go with the evolved SD-10.
2-Even the AIM120s have been superseeded by the C7 and AIM120D versions.....the problem is, you cannot go to USA to procure the latest missile, because of political reasons. However with the SD-10 missiles, you will always have access to them whenever they become ready.
3-Building on point 2 above, even if PAF manages to procure SABR (not Saber), the BLK60 spec F-16s will cost shyt tonnes of money, which means PAF will only be able to procure a squadron at best, meanwhile your old fleet will be not be standardized. If PAF chooses to upgrade the APG68 on the older F-16s, again, that will cost money and getting approval from congress would be an uphill task, considering that some crazy, fascist person will be the next president of USA.

Yes, the bloody civilians must be idiots. :D

Yes they are, after all, that's where the people who don the uniform come from........

.
Yes, the bloody civilians must be idiots. :D
the term bloody civilians was used by our pre partition masters i.e British not by Pak army. However fact remains that even a military guy is also mostly ignorant abt F16 same goes for AF people in case of Army gadgets.

Yes, it is therefore not at par in all aspects, as clarified above.

Performance = target achieved / target given.

Thus, they are both different
