With a dazzling display of its superior aerial capabilities the Pakistan Air Force PAF set the tone for an entertaining competition during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 launch in Karachi. With the opening game pitting Pakistan versus New Zealand at the National Bank Stadium this event marks Pakistan's comeback to hosting an ICC event after a 29-year break.
During the PAF's performance Sherdil Squadron which is renowned for its precise flying with Karakoram-8 aircraft put on an amazing aerobatic display. Squadron performed complex maneuvers including barrel rolls and loops and the amazing flying patterns of the F-16 and JF-17 Thunder aircraft enhanced the visual display. Players and onlookers alike were enthralled by the noise of the aircraft overhead as the teams were ready to take the field highlighting the importance of this event for Pakistani cricket.
As the principal guest during the opening ceremony, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the significance of this competition for Pakistan's cricket scene. Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), said he was certain that the nation was prepared to host international teams and that the highest security and hospitality standards had been set. Prior to the tournament, the PCB organized a number of festivities that showcased both cricket and national pride, such as the PAF air show.
