Muzaffarabad, June 11: Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturdayhas said his country will continue its support for the right to self determination for Kashmiri brethren, Dawn News reported.
Gen Bajwa made the remarks during a visit to Pakistan Army’s forward positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
“Pakistan shall continue its support for right of self-determination to Kashmiri brothers in occupied Kashmir,” Gen Bajwa was quoted as saying in the report.
He also lauded the Kashmiri people on both sides of the LoC for their determination against “Indian brutalities.”
He was briefed in detail by the local commander regarding the “operational situation, Indian cease fire violations and response by Pakistani troops,” read a statement, issued by Pakistan army’s media wing.
“The COAS appreciated the state of operational readiness, exemplary high morale, and motivation for the fulfillment of assigned missions,” the statement added.
He also interacted with his troops, who were reported to have pledged that “no Indian misadventure shall go without a befitting response”.
The COAS said: “We are aware of the defence and security challenges being faced by the country and we are capable of defeating all threats, irrespective of the ‘front’.”
Earlier on Thursday, Gen Bajwa’s counterpart in India, Gen Bipin Rawat, had claimed that the “Indian Army is fully ready for a two-and-a-half-front war”. (CNS)
