Merge Rakhine state (Myanmar) with Bangladesh! - US Congress

I told you 288/300 still not matter as 30% voted against AL in east pakistan. In the next election PPP or Muslim League could had made better coalition and come victorious. the difference on the overall seat was minimal and AL still did not have absolute majority in east and west combined.

Dude, you really lack knowledge.

AL had 160/300 seats in 1970 election. That is why Mujib never had to negotiate with any other parties to declare himself Prime Minister.

Forget what might have happened in next election, we just know what actually happened in 1970 election. People voted along ethnic lines.

The idea of united Pakistan was always some fairly tale. Now unless you have something productive to add, do not reply as i cannot bother drumming the same facts into your head time after time.

Sorry my bad.. AL did have absolute majority

India provided for it's own interest. that's it.

But you should not delude yourself with the thinking that Bangladesh could not have emerged Independent if India had not helped. We would have been independent even if India were neutral. There is noway 45,000 Pakistani troops could have subdued a country of 75 million perpetually. Our independence would have come India or not, if not in 1971, then in 1972, or 1973 or 1974. After Pakistani army launched operation search light and Bangladesh declared Independence, there was no way to go back to remain as a single country with Pakistan. We have 86,000 villages. We had more villages then they could master the number of troops. Vast swath of the countryside was out of reach for Pakistani troops and Mukti Bahini reigned there. Securing weapons from black market was never too difficult. Even without Indian involvement, a less intense insurgency would have still raged on. Pakistan's economy was crippled and they were unable to withstand any prolonged insurgency in Bangladesh. Sooner or later, they would have forced to come with the negotiation with provisional Bangladesh govt. and would have to give independence on negotiated terms. Indian direct involvement only hasten the inevitable outcome.

But you guys are not grateful towards us that we have saved you from the 'Pakistan in the East' by breaking away from Pakistan. Can you imagine what would have been now if there were nuclear armed hostile East Pakistan in your eastern sides still?

India got paid by their marauding Army. Anything that was on the street, abandoned, or not bolted to the ground generally got hauled away to India.
These folks are banias , giving is one gene you won't find in the Indian DNA !

Exactly my point.

Look BD has no designs on Indian territory and we have fantastic relations currently.

BD just needs to plan for the fact that one day India will break up.

BD needs to plan for rise in ocean levels and climate change

Enjoy the video to know how the area of Bangladesh has increased already and will keep on increasing thanks to that miser country India that sends us 2 billion tons of soil and silt to BD without even when it is not being paid.

Thank you, India.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and the Meghna river systems are amongst the largest braided river systems in the world, the inherent characteristic of such rivers is the formation of new ephemeral sand bar islands known as chars in the local parlance. The formation of these chars are accompanied by the simultaneous lateral erosion of the river banks leading to loss of fertile flood plains and precious agricultural areas. People should not jump up and down in glee about these useless landmasses being formed as the loss due to erosion is more devastating.

Transportation of silt is inevitable in the downstream countries, there are no dams in the main channel of the Brahmaputra or the Barak, so these paranoid folks are unnecessarily harping about nothing.

Bangladesh should worry more about the seasonal variation of water in their rivers rather than silt, north west Bangladesh is already parched due to Gajoldoba barrage and many more are in the pipeline.

Inshallah, now that BJP is in power in Manipur we shall also see the construction beginning in the Tipaimukh project.

Free silt from the miserly India will soon be a thing of the past, along with free water. Suck on that!

You have no clue what you talking about. There are river bank erosion but the river never gets widen. So the net gain of water by erosion is zero.
Besides dam never stops siltation in the downstream as 99% of the silts are carried in the rainy season when dams are wide open.

And you have comprehension issues. You have just validated my point. The land lost through lateral erosion is gained via these useless char formation, so that the net gain is mostly zero.

Char is a temporary formation but when one bank erode the other bank raises. The char is the siltation from upstream. River changes its course to some extent every year and for that the erosion occurs.

The lateral erosion occurs because of the braid formation which are the sandbars(chars) at various levels of the river, these form because of sediment deposition which decreases the cross sectional area of the river which were previously available to the water channel. Hence, the river has to erode the lateral bank to maintain its flow, creation and destruction at the same time. Have been witnessing this first hand in Assam for as long as i can remember.
Char is a temporary formation
Right, tell that to bluesky who was going gaga over it. Nothing is permanent in most of these chars in Assam, i am sure it's the same in BD.

all the silt won't be deposited on low lying areas. depending on the level of sea rise I can see 20-30% of Bangladesh below sea level

Sea level rise does not automatically translate into inundation. It depends on human intervention. There are many coastal areas in the world which are already below sea level but thriving with human habitation. Most famous example being Netherlands. But there are also other examples. In Indian state of Kerala, hundreds of thousands of acres of paddy field are below sea level which were reclaimed in traditional methods over centuries. The worst case scenario of 1-2 meter sea level rise by 2100AD will be countered naturally by silt deposition in coastal areas of Bangladesh as well as human intervention like building dyke, river dredging etc. Bangladesh already undertaken a masterplan called 'Delta Plan 2100 AD' to tackle sea level rise and other adverse climate change effects. This a joint collaboration between Netherlands and Bangladesh for which Bangladesh is spending 37.5 billion dollar by 2031.
Bangladesh not only will counter sea level rise but also gain several thousands of square km new land reclaimed from Bay of Bengal by river dredging and by building cross dam and dyke.

Thanks, India for sending two billion tons of silts to our BD to compensate for the loss due to erosion. India more than compensates the loss causing BD to enlarge its size. We are jumping with happiness at seeing how helpless India is. It is unable to keep its own landmass within itself it is paying us tax with precious land.
