Why drag Christianity into this? Thanksgiving is a Christian holiday. Don't make ridiculous hybrid names
Got to love Pakistani logic, like saying India has nothing to do with earth culture .
your logic =
Do you know that last year Pongal was not a holiday at Indian gov offices in Tamil Nadu? You can take the day off as optional holiday if you want but the offices are open and you can go to work. People can go to these offices to conduct business.
Thaipusam, celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai. The rituals held during Thaipusam banned in India, is celebrated in cities throughout Malaysia, as well as in Singapore and Sri Lanka.
Christian America, Canada, Chinese Singapore, Muslim Malaysia etc know, Pongal is a major festival celebrated by Tamil regardless of their religious affiliation. In Tamilnadu is a 4 days affair, Singapore a month long celebration, other parts of the world minimum 2 days festivity.
But you mean to say , colonial Hindu/Hindi Indiá doesn't know Tamil culture and the importance of Pongal to Tamils after having subjugated them for 70 over years ?
Deepavali was never celebrated by Tamils (see post #5 on the festivals celebrated by ancient Tamil) it was introduced into Tamilnadu by the Nayak (Telugu ) rulers, who also paved the way for infiltration of Brahmanism and its evil caste system into Tamilnadu. Tamil priest were replaced by imported Brahmins.
Deepavali celebrates the slaying of Tamil king (either Ravana or Naraka sura) by Aryan invaders and has no place in Tamil culture and history
Interesting.. Which Tamil festival is this?
