It is an ill-kept secret that Indian education standards are among the best in the world. But now, it's official. India stands at number 4 in the list of most desired education destinations.

India No. 4 in World's Best Education Destination list

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the body which conducts GMAT recently conducted a survey, which pegged the United States and the United Kingdom at No. 1 and 2, but what has come as a real surprise is India's rank. The third most powerful Asian nation has been placed at the 4th most desired place to study management courses.

GMAT is one amongst the top B-school entrance test which is conducted at global level. Canada has secured the third position in the lot. Even Spain and Israel have appeared in the list among the top preferred destinations for B-schools.

Experts believe that India's entry to the list is no surprise. They said that as the country is coming up with reputed business schools of international standards, it was quite obvious. Business schools in India are among the best in the world. The Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, has been ranked at 12th in the Financial Times (London) Global MBA rankings.

Also, the Indian Institutes of Management spread across major cities have also led MBA aspirants to opt for Indian schools. IIMs adopt GMAT for its entrance exams.

Experts said business school aspirants have now become mature. They have become particular about the returns they would get after making an investment in management studies. Because academics here is cheaper than in the US and the UK, MBA degree-seekers are turning their heads towards India.

On a different note, while Indians have always been fascinated of continuing their studies in America, it has now emerged that Canada is a more favoured destination now. The GMAC survey reports said 78% of full-time MBA courses in Canada were largely applied for by Indians.

Government is going to spend billions of dollars in upgrading higher education system with latest infrastructure, fiber optical internet, modern labs, library, WAN, more recuritment of forign faculties, enhanced student exchanges from other countries etc. will change the whole situations dramatically in the India's favour.

After the becoming the major destination for top quality but economical Medical treatment the next step is the destination for quality but affordable education destination.

Not only it will bring billions of dollar but also attract talents, enhance India's image and help our people in education as well as jobs.

1st in management, last in science.

anything you learn in business school you can learn better in a job. you can't suddenly learn, of course, how to program an HPLC interface or determine molecular structure on the job.

Ya, you are right.. 'below_freezing' is a smart man, every one else in India are idiots. India as a country is waste of land. Happy now.

Now please stop trolling.

It's a very interesting (and of course completely wrong) interpretation of the data from the Graduate Management Admission Council survey.

The GMAC uses data from GMAT tests and business schools that require GMAT, so the result of the survey counts only the number of students taking GMAT in order to apply for a certain business school. GMAT is an English test, and there are a lot of business schools around the world whose language of instruction is not English therefore do not adopt GMAT.

Of course GMAT is mostly used by business schools, so the survey says nothing about education in general.

So instead of 'India is the no.4 best education destination in the world' as the news report proclaimed, the survey simply shows Indian business school are the fourth most popular destination for students taking GMAT tests.

Some interesting food for thought from the most recent GMAT data: 63% of the GMAT tests taken by Chinese citizens were taken by women, the global average is 40.1%.

So by your logic Rotman, Berkeley, Kelly, Rogers, IIM, ISB, Liverpool and many other grade A business school are just a waste of time. Tell that to employers that pay these grads six figure salaries. Education is the foundation of learning anything. Without a strong foundation, the building will always be weak.

Its a survey buddy..How did you determine their methodology? Did they say anything in that article about people surveyed.

Regarding the bold part..what exactly are you trying to say? Does that have any relevance to this article?
