In Memory of Sqn Ldr Ajay Ahuja & Flt Lt K. Nachiketa

And this is what happens to the IAF when facing a proper challenge....


In August 1999, Indian .Pakistan hostilities were at a peak, a PN Atlantique aircraft had been shot down by India and the tension on the borders was described as at at knife edge. There were constant air patrols, each side was monitoring the other around the clock resulting in aircraft being constantly scrambled. One of these resulted in two IAF MiG-21s being scrambled from an airfield in Indian occupied Kashmir, in the heat of the moment, while baring down the runway, No 2 MiG got caught in the leaders slipstream and began losing control and it's pilot proceeded to eject, the Indian air controller watching panicked and gave the call for eject without referring to No2, the MiG leader who was by this time airborne assumed that the call is for him so he also promptly proceeded to eject.
Whether an air violation by the PAF materialized on that day or not but it certainly caused the IAF the loss of two aircraft....some sources describe it as the cheapest kill of the conflict.

I am happy that mig -21 pilot met a terrible end as that incidents took away our precious officer..

But Pak also hit an AN 225 or 25 came from Afghanistan during Afghan war. Killed by a SW from F-16.
Then our sabre attacked a civilian plane from Gujrat in 65.

Soldiers, obey what they are told from the officers at HQ. So that mig pilot did, what it was told.

Let’s not forget the other Indian jets shot down during peace time i.e. the Canberra in 1959 and the Ouragan in April 1965.

It is interesting the excuses they make.

For the Canberra they said that the oxygen supply malfunctioned and the plane could not maintain altitude. Why not abort the mission instead of getting shot down in middle of Pakistan? Total BS it was on a low level photo reconnaissance mission on Eid day and Indians thought PAF would not be on alert.

For the Ouragan they said it strayed into Pakistan by mistake. Are their pilots and radar operators so incompetent that their plane is hundreds of KM inside Pakistani territory that they don’t know?

For the Gnat that surrendered intact they said the pilot mistook an airfield (Pusrur) in Pakistan to be his airbase. Again are their pilots so incompetent that they don’t know where they are and cannot identify their own base?

For the Mig 27 that was shot in Kargil they said it was smoke ingestion that resulted in a flameout because the plane was operating at a high altitude. Total BS. The pilot was in a ground attack mode using guns at at altitude of no more 15,000/20,000 feet as the mountain peak he was hitting are about 10,000/12,000 feet. Mig 27 is designed to operate at 45,000 to 50,000 feet.

You are weasels with no integrity and ethics. You shot down an unarmed plane within Pakistan. Scurried in like hyenas to grab scraps from a downed plane and then rushed back across the border. Dirty is all I can say.

Both those pilots responsible for the crime met a very untimely demise, did they not.

Yes, one of the IAF pilots met a dogs death in a paralyzed state, but interestingly when he crashed the plane took out 7-9 Indian civilians as well while he cracked his spine. No remorse God has his own ways to exact revenge.

What total losers IAF.
What would be the total loss of these two planes along with there arsenal.

The aircraft that was used to shoot down that unarmed aircraft has killed far more Indians including the pilot who shot down that unarmed aircraft than the Pakistanis present on that atlantique aircraft

If it's d!ck measuring contest for starting the thread ,the fact of the matter was PAF was no where to be found when IAF was bombing Pakistani posts on top of the hills and the man responsible for kargil is running from his own country and is not coming back. That's more poetic I guess.

IAF was bombing posts on its own side of LOC. When it tried to come on other side it got shot down as shown in OP

as for the guy responsible for Kargil. He ruled Pakistan for years later on and is living comfortable in Dubai while bharatis are busy simping Israelis

Shooting a slow unarmed aircraft size of an airliner is surely an achievement by Indian standards. But we know what happened to Indian nerves when two MiGs were scrambled to a PAF threat.

'Proper challenge' windy, is India 'annexing' Kashmir. When the 'real' challenge was presented, your entire fizia sat at home instead of declaring war.

You can fool yourself forgetting who it was bombing ,get a life ,it was your guys backside which the IAF was bombing.

Your own IAF says it was ordered to not cross LOC

So yeah it was mostly on its own side while few times it tried to go on other side IAF got shagged

That was the stated policy of India not to cross the loc and bomb the Pakistanis on the peaks,and the PAF policy has been to watch their men bombed and say it was on their side .
If IAF was bad , PAF was far worse .

Twenty Years before the Indian Air Force Pilot, Abhinandan dropped in for a cup of nourishing Pakistani Tea, on this day aka 27th May 1999, Two other IAF pilots, namely S/L Ajay Ahuja and F/L Nachiketa also tried to intrude into Pakistani airspace during the Kargil conflict. Suffice to say, both were shot down by ANZA II MANPADS resulting in S/L Ajay Ahuja being killed while F/L Nachiketa taken as a POW. Interestingly for repatriation, unlike Abhinandan, Indian authorities weren't keen to take back their pilot in front of the media thus no one from Indian Embassy was present to receive F/L Nachiketa, thus he was handed over to the Red Cross.
