Altay & Turkish Main Battle Tank Programs

I like it more than the Altay variant. (design)
I'd say The tank looks like half Ukranian and half german. The turret shape reminds oplot tank however chassis similar to leopards'. To reveal that the Turkish Army didn't ramble or wasn't interested to improve the new defence technology is good for whom it may claim.
As we can see all defence projects are ingrained and these are worked by professionals who use and need the tank.
Drawing a picture about Turkish defence industry , always remember the real players behind the scene.

  • 41. Altay will have national engines
  • Qatar will order 100 Altay

The guy is making speculation/propaganda for the upcoming election, worse disrespecting formal relation and another state with her army.

The promises do not coincide with the realities so far, if that does not give enough heads up, then free to buy dreams/stories.

As for Qatar, It is almost impossible that they will place any order for the Tank, but know-how as wished for from the very beginning.

It needs more than a Tank to declare hegemony, and the current realities so far have given enough clue about the ability/capability of the dreamers, again free to buy dreams/stories.

They haven’t learned anything from Leopard 2? Don’t put the ammunition in the front of the tank!
There is an thick armour between the tank and a threat. Also tracks, suspension systems and fuel cover the sides. The most vulnerable place is a backside of turret.

If the tank is hit from behind its pretty much done anyways, haven't you guys heard of blowout panels on the Abrahms. The ammunition is separately stored and when or if the back side of the turret is hit, the crew compartment is unaffected. Also if a tank is being hit from behind, it means something has gone really wrong tactically.

Doesn't anyone remember when that Leo2 got hit from the front with an ATGM, how many times did Leo2's completely exploded in ES because their ammo storage was ignited? Their frontal armour wasn't enough to protect the ammo racks from exploding.

Unfortunately there is no perfect tank or scenary without drawback. I can show you unteempt number of photos where mighty Abrahams were blown up. According your claim T 64-72 are safer and secure then Abrahams.

Ok, the situation of the Altay tank is beyond ridiculous at this point. We managed to design the tank without delays, create prototypes without delay and get it approved by the TSK, again, without delay.

The easiest part (for Turkey), the actual production of the tank though is seeing incredibly huge delays. The reasons isn't that we don't have the capability to produce this machine - we know that Turkey can manage this in government controlled factories as well as private sector ones.

No, the only goddamn reason we still don't have the Altay is that a blood sucker wants to get paid. Not only was the tender delayed multiple times to accommodate his company getting ready (a company that he didn't build btw, it got handed to him on a silver platter) now we're waiting for him to actually build factories to get going.

And it turns out he can't even do that. Imagine the scenario for a second, we gave this man a company out of the blue, then gave him the biggest tender Turkey's defense sector has ever seen, then gave him special treatment so he can get ready to build a tank. This company shouldn't even have been allowed to run in this tender - but no, it was cancelled multiple times so he could have it.

Now that he has failed every damn step, we decided to give him government factories (that were running perfectly fine) so he can build the damn thing.

It's been months since that - still SILENCE.

When is it going to be enough? I mean let's just have OTOKAR and FNSS build the tank and just outright pay mr Sancak instead and be done with it all?!

This is why politics should be kept away from the Defence industry as you will have these sort of things happening all the time due to cronyism, corruption or favouritism of certain people.

Defence of a nation should not boil down to this what a shame Turkey would have had its own new tank by now but nope politics and bullcrap corruption ruined it. Whoever impedes on the defence of a nation should be tried for treason.
