Well Yuvi has got a 16 cr deal wtih Delhi Daredevils, he would be happy. The problem with Yuvraj is consistency and he could never cement his place in test team inspite of huge talent he has. & to be honest after his recovery from cancer, his form too is a bit on-off. Under the circumstances, it is difficult to see why a captain would risk a chance, although he would've been a handy batsmen at no. 5 if Rahane could open the innings.
As for his father's blabbering, guess @levina is right, he is looking for some publicity. The team was declared long time ago and what is the point of making a fuss now when tournament is on. & i guess Yuvi too clarified in one tweet that doesn't agree with hos father's statement.

I think he is just getting emotional - Naturally every loving dad cares about his son and is at times highly emotional concerning him! Though MSD did play a role in kicking out seniors like Sehwag, Gambhir, Harbhajan, Yuvraj and Zaheer etc.!

I would have chosen yuvi instead of nohit.
Open with Rahane dammit.
Current options for India are
1 Rayudu instead of nohit batsman replacement, in batting track.
2 Axar on spinning track.
3 Binny when swing bowling. If bhuvi is not fit, otherwise prefer bhuvi.
Nohit should be manjrekared.

Although India does not need any more all rounders in team currently, i feel he should have been in team instead of Jadeja 1000001% because he is a natural timer of the ball which is needed on australian pitches. When we needed timers in the death overs vs Pak there was non left as Rohit, Kohli and Shikhar were already gone and Jadeja and Dhoni are not good timers, although Rahane failed to read the slower ball. Dhoni is biased todards his fellow team members of CSK and its not good for the team.

Jadeja has always been Dhoni's man. Yuvi has always been a threat.

The fact that the team isn't getting opportunities to play in country in front of home fans is perhaps the biggest hurdle in development of new cricketers. Nothing motivates a young player than his home fans cheering him while playing on big stage. I hope situation in your country improves and international cricket resumes. You guys are performing quite successfully in UAE but again that isn't home ground.
Here in India too, it would've been impossible to think that Sehwag, Gutam and Yuvi (after their tremendous success in last WC) wouldn't be a part of this team, but that has happened. Luckily there are some replacements available owing to players coming through Ranji trophy tournament and more so from IPL where young rookies can play and share space with best players in the world and learn to handle pressure on and off the field. Australia, SAF and England too have similar stories.
I think if cricket has to survive, government must ensure more international tours to Pakistan, ensuring safety. That would be a big boost.

Sanju will get his chance definitely. He is young and exciting. Also Naman Ojha is also a good WK. Don't see Dhoni playing beyond 2017, so next time around we'll have these guys adorning gloves behind stumps for sure.

Wriddhiman saha is not bad either. Uthappa can be used like Dravid. So some good option in batting. Hope similar option come up in bowling.

LOL we forgot good old DK, also KL Rahul, Aditya tare. Lot of competition for MSD spot. Even now DK would be a better replacement for nohit. He is a great fielder as well.
