‘We back indigenisation, but Tejas didn’t fit the bill’

.
I don't understand the concept of this program.why they are not accepting tejas? Why India is giving billions for French rafale and not using it's own fighter jet! This tejas have aesa and good avionics better long range missiles so what is the problem? Is there any hidden mechanical problem or is it too heavy? What is the reason of rejection? Someone should ask iaf what they want! Billions already spent in tejas program.I read somewhere that iaf only have 2 tejas.only 2 tejas? Someone should be held accountable. They wasted lots of money and no results! I know India is a massive economy but money should not be wasted.

Rafale is a medium weight fighter while tejas is low weight..both are different classes and different roles.
And also tejas is in process of induction.. They will be inducted as they are manufactured.. Right now SP 3 is flight tested and sp-4 is readied for flight testing

LOL...that is just assembly like su 30 mki

Cut the crap sunnboy, your tejas as is as indigenous as your underwear, which has high probability of "Made in China" label on it.

So when did you attain VTOL capabilities on tejas for its Naval role?

.
Anything that floats your boat.
Bhai their boat isn't sailing nowhere. That WhY the Indian are wetting their lungis because the internet chest thumpers don't understand that the air force doesn't want this junk and neither does the navy.

Fact TEJAS is crap

Not to mention F-35 which is dual eehmmm...
In 10 years the MAJORITY of carrier based fighters will be single engine.
Well I think you should be promoted to the chief of navy

My primary concern is the money wasted on this project and only 2 fighters.in Pakistan,we don't have billions of dollars for jets.look at China! Everyday they are making fighter jets.my question is why India not allowing it's engineers to train outside so that they learn these technologies quickly and implement it on tejas.rejecting tejas is a bad choice.

Congrats, I didnt know Tejas attained VTOL capabilities.

So when did you eehmmm.. configured VTOL capabilities into Tejas?

My post was crystal clear, its you having comprehension problem.
You do realise there are 3 versions of F35. Conventional take off for USAF, VTOL for USMC and the third Naval variant for USN. The pic posted is a Naval variant as the arresting cable is clearly visible.

.
The whole of pakistan is terribly disappointed that this super power plane is being rejected by people who simply don't understand the tejas. I think they should be fired and replaced by more competent Indian who will force the world beating Tejas in numbers. Sad day for Pakistan we love a turkey (monkey) shoot

.
I am not here to compare tejas with jf-17.I am not here to fight with Indians.someone should ask iaf what they want? They should promote this plane. They are not interested. What is the problem with this fighter and what about the money?if they want to launch new version of tejas, than do it quickly.

Granted, however the argument was when most of the world navies are using dual engine jets for career operations, their 4 and 4.5 gen aircraft like F18s, Flankers, Fulcrums, rafales, as for the tejas who is not even in the same league, let alone being compared to the fifth gen jet , is a silly notion itself.

Tejas is a program, it's a platform and the more you view it like it is, and not just as an aircraft, a lot of things will make sense to you. Whatever advances we make in the naval aviation arena, Tejas will continue to be the platform since we don't have anything else to learn and test from. Given that the only war we could face is with Pakistan, which by itself does not have any superior fighters in it's own naval aviation, Tejas is actually an overkill as far as it's fighter prowess in the naval arena is concerned but it's duty as a platform is invaluable.

Talking too much and doing nothing

I was part of multinational organisation one day i asked from regional director about our organisation achievements in india he answer the same thing as u said " talking too much doing nothing"

And it's just a TD wait for MK 2

Sunshine, The topic of how "indigenous" Tejas is being discussed to death on this forum. No need to resurrect the dead from grave.

Meanwhile the JF is, what it name suggest, the "Joint fighter", build on the same concept like Eurofighter. Which btw, as we speak, is guarding nations arial frontiers.

When your tejas is in a position to come face to face with JF then we can discuss further, meanwhile JF is staring down the high end of IAF, the likes of Su30s on eastern front.

Any program has to have an end product. So when are you inducting them in numbers? Irony is, the topic is about Tejas rejection by Indian Navy.

As for Pakistan and its Naval doctrine, we work on our own needs and threat perception. JF17s are not only inducted to guard our Sea frontiers but, as we speak, are deployed in maritime role. Jf17 armed with Sd10 and c802 can deal with threats from bigger nations, Indian issue is done and dusted.

Don't mean to rain on your pride parade, but JF-17 is a very primitive plane and cannot be compared to Tejas (and definitely not to Eurofigther).

JF-17 does not even have a full fly-by-wire capability (has FBW in one of the three axes only!!!). The engine used (RD-93) doesn't have FADEC. The aircraft is essentially a 3rd or 3++ generation aircraft. Tejas is far more advanced. India has a lot of money to shop around - so Tejas sometimes may not sound as attractive as say Rafale etc to IAF.
