Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

. .
The Syrian Presidential ''counselar'' says They are against any kind of division of the country; unlike the USA.

However, The ruling party sees the USA ally, keeps 5+Syrians in Turkey and leaves the ethnically-cleansed territory of Syria to the ally of USA, PKK terrorists.

Any logic here?

Look Al Assad regime at the moment is nothing more than a public figure shown as Syria sovereign Authority while in fact it has no actual authority or power to enforce it

The US ( No Sdf authority )
Israel
Russia
Iran
Turkey
Those are the players who their decisions and agreements will shape Syria
So if I were you I would not care what she says because it's meaningless
1)Look at the regime been claiming it will attack Idlib and preparing since forever yet without a Russian and Iranian greenlight all it can do is bark loud

2)Look at Sdf and YPG they said will bring hell to Turkey if it attacks Afrin well they just sat and watch as olive branch happened even tho there was 700km to play with ( thanks to No US greenlight )

3)Look at FSA wanting Tell Rifaat yet so far nothing ( no Turkey greenlight )

And so on and on

Lets make some points clear for the sake of the context in the frame of logic.

Who is the primary enemy of Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who wants to divide Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who attacks Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who supports PKK... Assad or USA?

Who wants to divide Syria... Assad or PKK/USA?

Whom The UN recognizes as legit authority for Syria... Assad or the list you wrote?

So, Whom you think Turkey should make legit co-operation for the interests of Turkey in short, simple and cost/risk low way... Assad or USA/PKK?

1) If Turkey chooses to work with Assad to fight PKK
Then Turkey has no right complaining about US work with SDF/YPG
If Turkey Accepts a man who killed a million people just to forward its interest then it is just as bad as the other hypocrites

2) where was that UN recognition when 4 countries are bombing Damascus whenever they felt like it
Israel by now probably considers Damascus as no more than a target practice

3)Assad has no problem with SDF/YPG all his movements and actions on the ground indicates he is trying to win them on his side undermining the US so why would he help Turkey and FSA won't be happy about any possible cooperation between the two so reality at the moment just dictate the impossibility of your scenario

4) Who told you Assad didn't attack Turkey ??? Are those Assasinations and bombings in Idlib And Afrin undermining Turkey's influence are done by Ghosts ??
Sdf/YPG has a role sure but it's only access is through Assad territories free bombs transit anyone ??

The Assad authority is internationally and legally recognised by the UN, unlike the PKK terrorists.

Apparently, you care the career of Assad more than the national interets and the future of Turkey and 80+m Turks and ready to sacrifice them to see Assad's career failure.

Let's try it again:

Who is the primary enemy of Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who wants to divide Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who supports PKK... Assad or USA?

The UN and Int. Laws are there, so are the national interests of member countries.

Let's try it again:

Who is the primary interest of Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who wants to divide Turkey... Assad or PKK?

Who supports PKK... Assad or USA?

3)Assad has no problem with SDF/YPG all his movements and actions on the ground indicates he is trying to win them on his side undermining the US so why would he help Turkey and FSA won't be happy about any possible cooperation between the two so reality at the moment just dictate the impossibility of your scenario

What does Assad fight for, and what does USA/PKK fight for?

There is no cities inside the border of Turkish Republic, therefore Syria has never and ever attacked Turkey. Those attacks in Syrian territory are both legal and illegal, so is the answer.

Given the alliances in the Syrian conflict, Will you please tell me whereabouts of the influence of Turkey other than 5+ millions of Syrians influence in Turkey?

So, Logically Whom you think Turkey should make legit co-operation for the interests of Turkey in short, simple and cost/risk low way... Assad or USA/PKK?

Have you seen what Assad says about Turkey ??
What says about Erdogan and the government ??
If someone Insults my dignity or my country I won't be trying to work with him ( shoutout to CHP guys who have no problem with it)
Finally I will say this one last time :
US allied with YPG/PKK to forward its interests a known Terrorists ( Turkey got mad and complained )
If Turkey chooses to work with a man who killed a million people just to forward its interests then Turkey is no better and is just being a hypocrite

Yes PKk is the main enemy but so is Assad an enemy ( luckily he is constrained by Russia and his actuall weakness) but just for the sake of it Assad truly can not offer meaningful assistance to Turkey what so ever

Edit : I'm NOT trying to get political but CHP deserved a mention lol

Except its us (Turkey) who decided to backstab Syria/Assad when we decided to support and arm the rebels. Do you expect Assad to talk good about Turkey after so many years of (civil) war which we as a country are at least a bit guilty of?

Syria has been supporting and sheltering PKK since the 80s. They literally have had training camps there. The Assad family did this to have a threatening chip against Turkey.

Turkey supporting rebels is a completely different scenario. (At least until that point) the opposition had no terroristic track record. They were just the majority of the country seeking justice from a dictatorial family from a minority ruling the country for decades. Turkey did nothing wrong against Syria, only the Assad family. When the country is ruled the way the Assad family did, the people are going to rise against the government one way or another, weather Turkey helps them or not.

Last but not least it is not backstabbing if you warn them many times about not massacring their own citizens for protesting. Backstabbing is when you officially deny it, but actually pretty boldly support an armed organization that is widely known as terrorists against your neighbors just so you can pressure them in negotiations.

As I said Turkey did nothing malicious in Syria, but even if it had done so, it would have been 100% justified as payback.

The funny part is that Turkish members who regularly defend Assad are the same people who are fiercely opposing Erdoğan. If it is okay to support a dictator in Syria, why are you criticizing Erdoğan as a "dictator"?

Because communist socialists don’t care about their countries interests, have no problem with oppression long as it is not carried out by people they term “Islamist” (anyone who believes in God).

Love Assad who has been supporting PKK for years.

1998 Adana Agreement between Turkey and Syria.

http://www.mfa.gov.tr/_p_statement-..._-1998_br__unofficial-translation___p_.en.mfa

  1. As of now, Öcalan is not in Syria and he definitely will not be allowed to enter Syria.

  2. PKK elements abroad will not be permitted to enter Syria.

  3. As of now PKK camps are not operational and definitely will not be allowed to become active.

  4. Many PKK members have been arrested and have been taken to court. Their lists have been prepared. Syria presented these lists to the Turkish side.
The Syrian side has confirmed the above mentioned points. Furthermore, the sides also have agreed on the following points:

  1. Syria, on the basis of the principle of reciprocity, will not permit any activity which emanates from its territory aimed at jeopardizing the security and stability of Turkey. Syria will not allow the supply of weapons, logistic material, financial support to and propaganda activities of the PKK on its territory.

  2. Syria has recognized that the PKK is a terrorist organization. Syria has, alongside other terrorist organizations, prohibited all activities of the PKK and its affiliated organizations on its territory.

  3. Syria will not allow the PKK to establish camps and other facilities for training and shelter or to have commercial activities on its territory.

  4. Syria will not allow PKK members to use its country for transit to third countries.
    1. Syria will take all necessary measures to prevent the chieftain of the PKK terrorist organization from entering into Syrian territory and will instruct its authorities at border points to that effect.
Both sides have agreed to establish certain mechanisms for the effective and transparent implementation of the measures mentioned above.

In this context;

a) A direct phone link will immediately be established and operated between the high level security authorities of the two countries.

b) The Sides will appoint two special representatives each to their diplomatic missions and these officials will be presented to the authorities of the host-country by the heads of mission.

c) The Turkish side, within the context of combating terrorism, has proposed to the Syrian side to establish a system that will enable the monitoring of security enhancing measures and their effectiveness. The Syrian side has stated that it will present this proposal to its authorities for approval and will reply as soon as possible.

d) The Turkish and Syrian sides, contingent upon obtaining Lebanon's consent, have agreed to take up the issue of the combat against PKK terrorism in a tripartite framework.

e) The Syrian side commits itself to take the necessary measures for the implementation of the points mentioned in this "Minutes" and for the achievement of concrete results.

I dont like Erdogan nor do i like Assad yet i think our foreign policy in Syria was a disaster, its not just black and white. You should be able to call mistakes or you will be doomed to repeat it over and over.
