NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin will visit India this week to discuss defence, trade, nuclear energy and space cooperation, local and foreign media reported on Sunday.

Rogozin’s visit is unscheduled and is an attempt to reassure the top Indian leadership that India remains Russia’s most important defence and strategic partner. Officially, the Indian government has not reacted to negotiations between Pakistan and Russia for the sale of Mi-35 helicopters.

Last week, Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif confirmed that Pakistan was interested to buy Mi-35 helicopters from Russia. Pakistan will buy such important and useful helicopters besides some necessary military equipment, he said.

Earlier this week, Russian Ambassador Alexey Dedov had said that there was never any ban on the sale of Russian military equipment to Pakistan. “There is ongoing cooperation with Pakistan in the field of defence and counter-terrorism and security,” he said.

“The proposed deal on supply of MI-35 to Pakistan is still being negotiated between Russian and Pakistani defence officials, and hopefully would be finalised soon,” the ambassador said. Rogozin’s visit may soothe nerves among the Indian establishment which has faced over-reaction in Indian media over the possible arms deal between Pakistan and Russia.

Russia, which was displaced last year by the US as India's biggest arms supplier, is reportedly negotiating with Pakistan the sale of the heavily armed helicopters. The move has not gone down well with the Indian government. “There are red lines in all relationships. We have no problems if the Russians sell non-lethal equipment like Mi-17 helicopters to Pakistan. They can even sell counter-terrorism equipment but the Mi-35s are not non-lethal equipment,” the paper reported.

Good for India .. Pakistan will get these or some other gunships anyways .. Nor is russia going to remain a so called exclusive defence partner of India..
what if they give some sensitive info about the helos?

Now that we started our offensive in NWA then we should ask Americans rather than going for these vintage machines.

Mere testing .. We have flown su-30mkks.. Ur Rafael's n beaten typhoons ... :)

Good for PAF. Every country measures its foe's equipment out. We too had our share in the game by flying the BLK-52 of Singapore Air Force. Normal practice.

We have tested the exact variant the PAF has while you can only measure out the 'K' not the 'I'.

No proof .. Except the fact the the Singaporeans used their block 52s for mil drills or exs.... Read not 52+ used by PAF... While PAF pilots have numerous hours on Chinese MKKs.. Source F-16. Net.

don't cry like a baby now... otherwise support your claim with credible source..

IAF pilots have evaluated singapore's f-16 block 52+ extensively. Singapore also bases it's f-16s in Kalaikunda Air Base and get their training from the Indian airforce. Not only we have flown F-16s but we have also extensively practiced against them. Hence, IAF knows inside out of the F-16. Moreover, we have every minute detail of the latest F-16 version, thanks to MMRCA. On the contrary, there is huge difference between Su-30Mkk and Su-30MKI. The avionics in MKI version is purely Indian and Israeli which is superior to the chinese avionics which can be known by the fact that PAF refused Chinese avionics for french ones. But due to Indian lobbying, PAF had to settle for the Chinese. :D

I am talking about 52+. RSAF bases its fighters at West Bengal all the year round. Besides IAF has sized out the more advanced Block 70 during MMRCA evaluation. So IAF knows what it wants to know about F-16. Still while we have evaluated Block 52 and above you are stuck at the K not the I which is way more advanced.

Btw mi35 are for counter terror operations- we have got cobras for you guys- now cry a river to the amrikans-

Oh yeah my chum bucket??Then I also have got some news for you.

So what if PAF pilots have flown the Dassault Rafale once or twice?? Our IAF boys regularly fly in the F 16Blk52,which happens to be the premium air superiority fighter of your PAF,on a daily basis!!Actually they have been doing so for years now and they know the machine from inside out.

And I simply can't understand why did you bring the MKK here!!Otyer than the engines, there is nothing much common with MKI,heck they are not even for same roles!!And with the upcoming "Super" upgrade,it's gonna be a moot point anyway!!
