The Indian Air Force will start flying its most modern Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft from Monday after conducting a preliminary check on the fighter’s fly-by-wire system the malfunction of which is believed to have caused the latest crash.

After the Su-30 MKI crash near Pune last Tuesday, the entire fleet of 120 Su-30 MKI aircraft was grounded temporarily to check its parts and components as a part of standard aviation safety measures.

So this Fly-By-Wire system is still an issue. I think u have modified it code or sumthing or upgraded it thats y it giving this problems.

U have this plane for like more than 9 years in service and it after 2009 FLy by wire is giving problem to u .

What do u guys say abt it ?

^^^ mate I'd ask you to do some research before making such comments in the future. Yes, in recent years the IAF has had a pretty ropey safety record due to ageing airframes. However this platform (MKI) has an incredible flight safety record- comparable ,if not better, than any other fighter on earth.

Don't you worry though this is the pain before the pleasure. In a few years this will all be a distant memory. The IAF is undergoing a massive up gradation program and soon such incidents will be truly rare.

Why care he is just to troll......

:angry:iAF needs to improve its safety records, they have been running out of excuses somebody needs to be anserable for this.If people have made the IAF a laughing stock then they deserve to be for what they have done.

^^ whats surprise?

when an F 15 crashed in 2007 F 15s were grounded in US

On 2 November 2007, a 27-year-old F-15C (s/n 80-0034 of the 131st Fighter Wing, Missouri Air National Guard) crashed during air combat maneuvering training near St. Louis, Missouri. The pilot, Major Stephen W. Stilwell, ejected but suffered serious injuries. The crash was the result of an in-flight breakup due to structural failure. On 3 November 2007, all non-mission critical models of the F-15 were grounded pending the outcome of the crash investigation,[85] and on the following day, grounded non-mission critical F-15s engaged in combat missions in the Middle East.[86] By 13 November 2007, over 1,100 were grounded worldwide after Israel, Japan and Saudi Arabia grounded their aircraft as well.[87] F-15Es were cleared on 15 November 2007 pending aircraft passing inspections.[88] On 8 January 2008, the USAF cleared 60 percent of the F-15A/B/C/D fleet for return to flight.[56] On 10 January 2008, the accident review board released its report stating the 2 November crash was related to the longeron not meeting drawing specifications.[57] The Air Force cleared all its grounded F-15A-D fighters for flight on 15 February 2008 pending inspections, reviews and any needed repairs.[59] In March 2008, Stilwell, the injured pilot, filed a lawsuit against Boeing, the F-15's manufacturer.[89]

FW system is so odd that it gave only a kill in 10 years:tongue:

Another Fighter jet crash in India?? I don't want to sound like an A$$ but I read somewhere some months ago that the total number of jets crashing in India has reached 999 Jets....Does this make it one thousands now??Again Just out of curiosity I am asking.

No not thousands :lol:

Most of the air crashes were their aging MiG-21s.

while the Mig 21 is a much maligned fighter . one should remember they are flying well past their airframe life . its close to five decades since we inducted them .

Does this thousand also include helicopters.

IAF Air crashes since 1st January 1990 .

Mig-21 = 127
Mig 27= 37
Mig 29 = 12
Mirage 2000= 5
Jaguars = 27
Harriers = 16
Su-30 = 3

The list doesn't include at least four other unidentified fighters, combat losses or any trainer or transport aircraft or helicopters.

Can you post data after 2000 ???

IAF doesn't operate harriers, only the IN does.

Could you put a source for this data? Considering that this is for the past 21 years, and considering the number of aircrafts of these types that IAF operates, the numbers arent that surprising, except for the mig 21s. 127 mig-21 crashes should definitely have been reason enough to start phasing them out earlier, or at least replacing the oldest squadrons with the much more capable and multi role mirages or mig 29s that they have been operating anyway, and have good experience with.
