Squadron numbers vary.. for e.g. back in 71.. a front line Mig-21 sq was close to 16-18 planes.. but a marut sq was 22-24 planes.

Interesting thing I noticed at MKI bases.. was that the traditional Hardened air shelters seem to be small for the aircraft.. which is why a new line of Sheds/shelters has come up on each of these bases to house the MKI. The aircraft can however , still sit in the dispersal areas next to the HAS albeit in the open .

What India needs is 300 odd Su-30 MKIs, around 150 Rafale, 200 odd LCA MK2 and 150 odd FGFAs to keep the balance of power for coming 20-30 years.

It is unlikely InAF can best PLAAF and PAF and other Muslim air forces in Pakistan. The mighty Luftwaffe of the Third Reich was wiped out by American and British air forces in England. Good as it is, Su-30MKI by itself cannot take on Saudi F-15SA and Typhoon, UAE F-16 Block 60/61 Desert Falcon, J-10B, J-20. India has no oil, and cannot afford an oil embargo by Saudi Arabia and UAE. Without oil, InAF aircraft cannot fly nor can InAF train fresh pilots.

Same weight-class does not mean same technology level or tactical capability. The Su-27SK or J-11A are
not on par with MKI. In order to surpass MKI, Chinese are getting new heavy-class fighters : J-11B and Su-35.

But the Super-MKI is likely to best them both.

J-16 Red Eagle is the most advanced Flanker in Chinese air force. Equipped with AESA and powered by WS-10A engines, it is certainly a match for Su-30MKI. It is also true that Flankers are only a stop gap measure in the Chinese air force. J-20 is the real deal, coming 2017.

No, J-16 is a strike fighter. It's China's attempt to get as much close to Su-34 as possible.

hahahaha keep on dreaming about typhoons and j10 and block 60's you think saudi's and UAE air forces will come running for you once the war starts. Saudi's want only money and UAE' s pretty angry with you guys right now .tell me how many times has pak even collaborated with UAE or Saudi 's in defence sector before . how many times have they helped you out in defence sector before.

PAF pilots would fly F-16 Block 60/61 from UAE in the event of an Indian invasion of Pakistan. They could also fly J-10B from China given J-10 is very similar to F-16. China would likely deploy over 100 J-10B and Flankers in Tibet for offensive operations against India and deploy another over 100 J-10B and Flankers to Pakistan like how the US 8th air force was deployed to England for operations against the Third Reich. Therefore, if India invades Pakistan, the most potent opponent of the Indian air force would be the Chinese air force rather than the Pakistan air force. Luftwaffe was destroyed by the US air force deployed in England and the RAF. It is unlikely the Indian air force can best the combined Chinese and Pakistani air forces.




The eastern front would pit InAF against PLAAF stationed in Tibet. The western front would pit InAF against combined PLAAF and PAF and possibly other Muslim air forces in Pakistan like how Luftwaffe fought against the American and British air forces stationed in England during WW2.

well if thats the case do you think saudies will give away there best fighters so israeils can aatck them when they are most vonrable same goes with UAE & quatar and all three in most probabillty will onli give you free oil but put an oil embargo on india but guess what india has its own oil production reserved for milltarry USE onli in times of war + we have african and south east asian nations and russians to bank upon in that scenario even if you keep Iran owt which most probabally will side with india in case of joint pak/SA war against India & dont forget if china opens its milltarry suplies to Pakistan in case of war with india Japnese , americans , israelies will give india whatever it wants so think again bro and we are not like pakistan we have enof reserves to by owt all that hardware and oil (even at twice or thrice the market price in case of war) but pakistan well keep dreaming
