Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

There is another aspect which the PAF hasn't overtly discussed yet, but that is using the second seat for a WSO who can guide LGBs and laser-guided AGMs in ground-attack missions.
Has LGB integrated in JFT?

The question then needed to be asked is---if the dual seater is to be used for LIFT----then what was the reason it was not designed from Gitgo---as is the normal procedure with most fighter aircraft producers.

Plus---the paf already had single and dual seat version of all the aircraft in their inventory---then why did they not pursue that route from the start.

Why are they going a step back now?

No modern aircraft has started off with a duel seat prototype. Reasons that the computer models were very accurate.

The engine might be different and the range is less than that of the single seat.

ACM Sohail Aman clearly said to AFM in early 2015 that JF-17B will be inducted in PAF to serve as LIFT. They want to get the rookie pilots from K-8 to transition to JF-17 in short-order - with the JF-17B you get a good LIFT platform to impart modern fighter flying (and air warfare) skills, and you have JF-17 pilots ready to join their squadrons.

IF J-17B is really made for LIFT, Did it means that T-50 or Yak 130 are not comiing?

ACM Sohail Aman said the PAF took a look at L-15 and T-50, and decided not to go that route, they'll use JF-17 for LIFT instead. So yes, it's basically 'dead.'

Every one who keep asking about dual engine it's not that simple IIT will be like drawing a new plane from the start
With dual seater you can cover extra weight and new systems by using a better engine which can solve few of problems
Best option or way ahead is to develop the bird for different mission roles ,because Pakistan needs good a2g and sea warfare platform mirage is out in few years
And can develop a mix of high to low bird
Which will keep it also cheap but will be capable enough to fight against modern birds which iaf holds
And will also help get more potential customer and get a bird according to there need

So 2017 will have many surprises

Good news anyway. It will have some significance for PAF but more importantly it will help us in the export market.

Is there any plane to upgrade K-8 with latest electronics and better cockpit?
