What's new

Pakistan will launch a two-seater version of JF-17 - Induction of JF-17B in 2017

May be mating point for IFR probe?

No, IMO the IFR-probe attachment point is here where I set the "?" ... at least in comparison to the single seater.

JF-17B IFR probe maybe 2.jpg

With the new canopy opening to the right side of cockpit in B model, would the same old place as in A model accommodate the IFR Probe, or does it need to be moved back and out of the way?

With Block 1 , the fuel Rod was attached to the central column , by the pilot side
Now the new location for the Refuel Rod will be a plug/play rod , which fits just above the Air intake

I can visually see how it may work , the pilot might have to look sideways during the refuel drills

Would imagine it would be a , mission time , connect and fly type Refuel Rod depending on need of mission for Refueling rod

The Cannopy Hinges are horrible need to go

No surely not ! This "attachment point" You pointed to is in fact a light for night IFR-ops.

I don't have a front view of a Block 2 with IFR probe. However from geometry, the probe should be at 45 degrees to give maximum clearance of the connecting point away from the plane. The canopy is opening 90 degrees.

The probe starts below the canopy but as it goes up it also goes away from the plane. There is enough clearance in my view .

Am I the only one sceptical about the claim that the B version has more clearance than the A?

Can someone combine the three threads on the JF-17B

I am not too sure why people think that there is a clearance issue with JFT to carry RAAD
