Pakistan Army negotiating for Turkish Altay Tanks

Thanks for posting hope things go as said but reality is different in Pakstan when it comes to implementation, several thing are reported by Janes and in Senate but never materialized, if you remember about fighter jet purchase.
Dont gimme that.. gimme a source.

.
Even altay was not tested...

Not suitable for Pakistani conditions, we have better option in China and Ukraine.

Fan boy news...baseless
I have checked the women she is no fan boy even I at first thought she is fan boy with some FB source she is good and I have a guy in our embassy in Turkey also confirm this few months ago. Altay won't be part of Al Haider project but separate

. . .
In 2016 Turkey's Undersecretary for Defence Industries (SSM) Dr. Ismail Demir told the Turkish Parliament that Pakistan was interested in the Altay MBT, stating, “Including Pakistan and the Gulf countries, we can say that countries that we have good relations with are showing a large interest in the tank" (link).

BUT don't expect anything of it
before Turkey (1) begins serial production of the tank (thereby producing the necessary spare parts) and (2) having an exportable system (i.e. without the MTU engine) to send over for trials. Basically, the Altay is not in exportable condition right now, so talk of exports is moot.

Let's see how it does if it sees combat in Afrin Operation olive branch.

Fake news. Altay was rejected due to weight, cost and engine issues when offered. Turns out they still dont have an engine for it.
They are working on an engine which they will eventually get to and considering our funding constraints we are in no hurry to really acquire MBTs in large numbers. Even AK has different systems inducted into a tank which is basically Chinese.
I agree the weight and cost are real factors, and weight can not be overlooked at any cost.

.
I think among the all competitors Oplot ,VT and Altay some how next Gen requirement is not met by either one of them means all have certain attribute but not a complete package which PA is looking for

Oplot being flexible and offer more but in comparison to modern MBT it is 1 gen behind
VT-4 is an excellent platform but going this route as VT is not battle tested
Altay incorporate some of the most advance weapon system but heavy then others

In the end i guess the negotiation will be a scale down version of ALtay or any one

Pakistan’s land systems specialist Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) is producing Al-Khalid-I main battle tanks (MBTs) at a rate far below capacity due to budgetary constraints, the Pakistan Senate’s Standing Committee on Defence Production was told on 30 November.

In a committee hearing, the details of which were published on the Pakistan Senate website, senior HIT officials said the state-owned enterprise is producing 18 Al-Khalid-I MBTs per year on average despite having capacity to build 50.

Officials said the lower output was due to budgetary constraints, although they did not elaborate.

HIT officials added that the company has also started preparation to develop and produce the next-generation Al-Khalid-II MBT.

I know what I posted, HIT only verbally said about AK-2 they didn't provide any evidence and road map of development of AK-2 to Senate so no confirmation that work has started.

Please dont be ignorant.
HIT officially announced AK II (1500hp engine and better armour and other upgrades) during IDEAS exhibition.

I know what I posted, HIT only verbally said about AK-2 they didn't provide any evidence and road map of development of AK-2 to Senate so no confirmation that work has started.
Also, its a briefing to Senates Defence Committee about the production of AK-II.

Its again an “official” briefing.
