Pakistan Army negotiating for Turkish Altay Tanks

Atlay may not be considered for Al-Haider because it's components will go in AK-2 and it is more potent and will give more freedom to Pakistan in making AK-2 very potent product.
This is a common practice that every country operates 2 types of MBT. In case of war it is better to have 2 suppliers.

.
PA may take route of buying few hundred customized Atlays before going for AK-2, but I don't expect it to be contender for Al-Haider tender as it's heavy and considered Frontline tank.

which tank is that?

Sounds like BS.

Altay is still under development...

Meanwhile AK-2 is nearing production.

AK-2 work was stopped, so don't expect it to enter service soon, funds are issue due to corrupt governments.

Things in Pakistan can change rapidly, and I will not trust any media till I see product because I know PA will not miss any chance to get it's hands on advance Western tech.

Chinese tech is more advance than western currently.

Too heavy and costly for our battlefields. Better stick with the Ukrainian and Chinese.

Altay is equipped with a 120mm L/55 smoothbore gun. It is fitted with a muzzle reference system, a thermal sleeve and fume extractor. The ammunition is stowed in the turret bustle with blow out panels on the roof. The tank also has a 7.62mm machine gun mounted in coaxial to the right of the main armament. A 12.7mm heavy machine gun is mounted on the right of the turret for commander operation.

Another reason for not opting it. PA never used 120mm smoothbore neither has ammo for it. The ammo development is another painstaking process as very few countries have the skill and expertise to develop those. We can manufacture ammo for 100mm, 105mm, 125mm tank guns only. We make our own ammo and dont import it from abroad.

Altay or any 120mm smoothbore equipped mbt is not feasible for PA armored corps for a number of reasons, ammo being one of them.
