Hi my thoughts are to go for state of the art anti tank missile if we need to beside this from Turkey at the moment if anything for army that should be T129 ASAP
Rest assured with good anti tank missile and helicopter squad we can defend easily our terrain

Not even m1 and leopard 2 tank armor could stand against atgm several destroyed I Syria and Yemen respectively
Rest of electronic and other active defense system can be installed on alkahlid and be more economical then going for a new and much more expensive system

Some one(please don't ask who) once told me PA will go for 3 types of tanks , 2 will be 50+T and 1 will be 54+T , first 2 will be in numbers (1500 to 2000) and 3rd one 400+ at max..............
According to him that's what PA need and need badly to counter Indian Armor and etc , etc,
So my take on this is,,,, PA will work on AK we will have AK-II and more and we will touch 1000 in AK series. And that OPt-84, well that deal looks like sugar candy for engine deal(if that happened or if news is true), still this deal will bring numbers to 420 tanks (100 new OPt-84 and 320 upgraded T-80Uds).........
For second 50+T tank I think we will go with VT-4(only option)........ And we will call it AH locally and replace T-85 and few others with it....... Rest all depends on deal and offers , It all depends on what China gives or what TOT Ukraine will give.
Altay is to heavy ,,,,,,, its way over then 54+T , I don't think this news is true,,,,,,, only option is new type of Altay tank bit lighter then current model.............................. And that isn't going to happen soon.
We need economy and funds ,,,,,,,,,,,,, AK-I production is very slow , and we need new tanks very bad........ AZ and T-85 both have 10 years max ....... we also have to replace them........even after 10 years.

AZ and T-85 both have 10 years max ....... we also have to replace them........even after 10 years.

I have lined up PA Armoured regiments. Even if you hypothetically put the type of MBT's on guess work inducted in these regiments, you will realise that T-85 and AZ still have along way to go, 10 years are too short.

Type-59 was inducted in '65 and still in service today after upgradations.

Windy all things considered, this looks like fake and made up!

1. It is too heavy,
2. Not sure about the engine,
3. There are better options available and options that make much more sense considering our current inventory and more importantly, future projects/ambitions (like Ukrainian engines and Chinese structure thing)
4. We can always opt for some Turkish sub-systems if we want to.
5. And most importantly, THE GUN!! 120mm? Not so sure about that!!! WHY WOULD WE WANT TO START PRODUCING NEW AMMO!!

Aren't these all related to AK-1 and even they mentioned the financial constraints. @Basel i think was talking about AK-2 . They share details of the problems AK-1 is facing including financial issues and low rate of production and just mentions (in one line) the PLAN or preparation of AK-2! That is it.

AK-2 work was stopped, so don't expect it to enter service soon, funds are issue due to corrupt governments.

Sir , I don't know how and when....... but according to him , PA need tanks ASAP and about the replacement of AZ and 85s , he clearly said that after 10 years (like from 2026) PA need to(have to) start replacing them and that replacement will take 5 to 10 years ...........
But , this all depends on our economy and higher ranking officers (planning , thinking etc). Rest time will tell
