What exactly Irani drone was doing in Syria?

If this is true (and so far it seems to be) then Iran is really screwing itself over!

Pakistan and Turkey are the only countries near to Iran that could really hurt them in a conflict (including major ground offensive). Why risk p1ssing off such a neighbour and make life even more difficult!?

Hopefully this was just Pak military giving Iran a small nudge to make them realise their errors and they accept it as a telling off from a friend without any further provocation.

Unfortunately for the Iranian mindset, they never trust Turkey or Pak although racially, linguistically, culturally etc. they have so much in common!!!!! If they had shown more good will great staffs could have been achieved!!! Anyway, at the end of the day, Turkey and Pak will save her back for they are the ones with brains who don't want the entire region to be put into fire!!!!!

these planes have high speeds, 45km can be crossed in a couple of minutes.

S-129 is not a low-RCS plane. the operator knew very well that "Pak army" can see his plane with their radars.

All in all, a very shit move which will definitely have bad consequences.

We don't mean no harm to the Iranian brothers but they should stop rocking the boat specially since Iran only knows too well that, there are some countries who are looking for an opportunity to punish and hurt Iran.
The attack on Iranian parliament was just such reminder. There was a time when Iran wanted to go after some Taliban sect inside Afghanistan, it was only Pakistan which prevented Iran from entering into this minefield.

if the drone was following a terrorist (claimed by Iran) inside Pak for 45 km, then that terrorist should be travelling REALLY fast. or the drone is hovering for a LONG time.

Most Pakistanis have a positive view of Irani people but their govt,s actions may change opinions anyhow cool heads must prevail here

There is a thread running claiming that Iran has killed scores of terrorists on the border, maybe the Iranian drone was involved with that mission but that doesn't give Iran the excuse to violate another counties airspace. The could have notified Pakistani authorities of the mission and join hands to hunt down the terrorists harming folks on both sides.

Interesting development..let's hope the Iranians get a message that such sort of behavior is unacceptable and they are not dealing with some washed up Arab country. After such actions diplomacy usually kicks in to control the situation and both parties then steer clear of doing anything stupid.

one probable purpose I can think of is - spying on Gwadar/CPEC. cos Iran's port with India is sort of low level competition for this. so maybe they wanted to keep track of the progress/weakness etc? note: Iran border from Gwadar port is about 60-70kms.
