Quota system in IITs do take a toll.. Already standards have reduced in IIT.. Pass percentage of students in IIT have reduced dramatically in last 4 years...
State schools, NITs and other central institution quota system is ok.. But not for IIT.. Its affecting the standards//...

I am from a backward caste(infact mostBC in TN), but yet i find the standards of IIT have reduced dramatically..
My bro had studied in IIT and so i can say that many arent studying at all after entering IIT, which is a waste of that seat..
Reservation must be ended to such reputed institutions as they contain the best minds of india...

I think you hurried into saying what you were waiting to, but the fact is quotas exist in every country and it always casts a doubt on the "reserved" candidate - which is unfair to both him/her as well as the one without reservation. Out here it is the same with minority races (including non-citizens like me). I am not against reservations per se - just not along religious/racial lines. Economically weak sections should be helped regardless of affiliations - of course with checks/verification - which will be a challenge till the UID system is fully implemented.

well it is a great of india and their diversity .how indian muslims getting progressed .no any country in the map ,where i think minority have such a leap in education field.. well done india it will give u a great unity strength .... if u compare in pakistan where minorities are suppresed not a good thing.where hindus as far as i saw in news even in media they forced to turn in islam ..
even those shuld have proud upon themselves and so called all islamic nation should learn from them and india.

The First time i knew i was a High cast when My 10th grade School teacher announced in my class that the OBC & ST should bring there cast Certificate ask ur Parents about... Next day when the kids understood whats the Meaning of Caste , OBC & ST do u know what happened ... every Kid started teasing the Low caste Fellows... i have seen many of them Crying & not attending days together to Escape Teasing ...

When will u people understand this is Done to Divide US...Whats the Quality of a Doctor who is has passed out by Day & Night Studies & a Person who Got away due to reservation... Now tell me u will Trust which Doctor ...

Yes, it is true. Companies that come to IIT campuses for recruitment are reluctant to hire quota candidates. In the long run, this will harm Muslim candidates

As long as a person gets good grades while at IIT, how will the employers know or care if they were a quota candidate? Do they look at earlier scores?

In IIT, within in months, the classmates & trachers will come to know who came thru quota or not..

BY THEIR IQ LEVELS, PERFORMANCE...nothing else.

I am not talking about classmates, but the general population. Does every Muslim student have to carry around their IIT report cards to prove to people that they really belong.

Yes, affirmative action exists in many countries. I am not debating the virtues of the policy; simply pointing out that the media focus on the policy undermines the whole purpose of the policy. It serves to taint the group which is supposed to be helped by the quotas in the first place.

Hindus enjoy 45.5% quota ..
While Muslims just 4.5%
On the other hand Muslim population is 14% in India

If government is giving reserved quota to so called low caste Hindus then Muslims too deserve a quota

Or else better scrap the quota

Well this is true.. I had no idea about caste till my 10th... hell i didnt even know that muslims and christians will have different religious practices.... Well my class was so close, so there was no untoward incidents happened like that in my class..
But india is big,.. its unfortunate such things had happened, and it is happening...
i have got ur point.. I personally feel the quota system should be abolished, when indian literacy rate reach some 85%...
