. . . .
The establishment of a Rural Health Center (RHC) in Neelum Valley by the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), is a transformative initiative for the region. Neelum Valley's harsh terrain and severe winters have historically hindered access to healthcare, leaving residents vulnerable to medical emergencies.

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

  1. Addressing Healthcare Gaps:
    • Previously, the lack of healthcare infrastructure forced residents to undertake arduous journeys, sometimes lasting up to 11 hours, to access medical services.
    • Fatalities during these treks highlighted the urgent need for local medical facilities.
  2. Collaboration with WHO:
    • WHO's involvement ensures international standards in healthcare delivery.
    • The collaboration also includes the provision of medical equipment, supplies, and training for healthcare professionals.
  3. Community Impact:
    • The RHC will offer primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, and emergency care.
    • It reduces the risk of fatalities due to delays in treatment, especially during snowfalls and road closures.
  4. Local Response:
    • The initiative has been warmly received by locals, who praised the Pakistan Army and WHO for addressing a critical need.
    • Such projects contribute to trust-building and the socio-economic upliftment of remote areas.

Broader Implications:

This project not only saves lives but also serves as a model for addressing healthcare deficiencies in other under served regions of Pakistan. It reflects the Pakistan Army's commitment to community welfare beyond its defense responsibilities and strengthens the role of international partnerships in improving living conditions.
