One may very well reach maturity earlier; depends a lot on climatic conditions, lifestyle and culture- like a Masai warrior could survive an injury which would have been fatal for a European. Some may reach maturity at 15, some earlier and some may not even at 25.

All you can think of in a marriage is sex, but I understand how the current monoculture does it to us.

If the 15 year old girl is allowed to live as a person in her parents' home she could certainly do it in her husband's. As I understand it in a marriage in its purest form, the father passes on his responsibilities to the husband, completely, albeit the husband have additional responsibilities, including her sexual gratification and the fulfillment of her desire of children. When you look at a marriage holistically, you'd see how we see it. It's the husband's job that the wife gets the education growth she wants, and the emotional growth that befits her age through me, among various other things.

It's not her decision alone that she get married either. The guardian (e.g. her father) who relinquish responsibility gets a say as well.

Nowadays people don't mentally mature until we realize we're losing hair (for us guys), in the culture Muslims (and other people) traditionally grew up, people mentally matured before the physically matured.

Our 15 year old girls are regularly having sex already, why can't they settle with a man as a guardian over them while having sex with him (people that age think of this sort of thing more often than us, let's admit it!). Our marriages aren't supposed to last for life, even though that would be preferable, people theoretically move in and out of them (as easily as in girlfriend-boyfriend relationships) while the man is left to care for any children that the marriage produced.

Wrong argument. The word and definition 'pedophilia' is a NON-LEGAL label for any sexual relationship when there is a gross age disparity and mental maturity between two persons. Age of consent have nothing to do with pedophilia. It is probably more common for a girl less than of age to be married away in rural India than people are aware of. She will be more matured to deal with marriege and issues with that when she is a little older.

You can term our society as 'regressive' for 'practicing' 'child marriage'(though it is banned now) BUT, in so called 'progressive' societies like yours you can't stop women from being mothers as young as 9 yrs.(and mind you, these are NOT 1/2 exceptional incidents--see link above)

So the bottom line is, since men NATURALLY seek younger women and VICE VERSA....the difference between their ages is bound to increase.....
Now, there HAS to be a (lower)limit.....and since it is observed that no-matter how 'progressive' OR 'regressive' the society is, people generally tend to engage in sexual activities on the onset of puberty, therefore why not be practical and make the legal age for sexual consent as per the onset of puberty and make life easier for everyone........
