It was possible, if MM didnt border China. With active U.S. support any country/govt can be toppled. China, Russia are the only exception. If Russia didnt back India in 71, then BD wont be created by India out of Pakistan. Similar attempts by U.S.A. miserably failed in Korea, Vietnam, which bordered China. From BD's perspective enmity with MM doesnt look good. Because India is also a potential enemy. And MM is a small escape route. To go hard on MM, BD needs total bonhomie with India. In 71, Pak forces didnt face total annihilation due to this small route through MM. From my understanding, BD will try all its best to keep present non military international pressure on MM to come on plausible deals.

If USA seriously wishes to check china. This is the way to do it. If it came down to it india will be on board.

Time for BD to get off the fence and align with the west.

Yes it is a double edged sword. However BD economy is dependent on the West and not china.

India factor keep us aligned to China. However lets be realistic BD and India can find accomodation.

If western and BD interest align and India can be brought on board there is no utility in remaining indifferent.

If China will act against BD interest there is no reason for BD to remain passive, china has minimal leverage.
