It's probably not true along with many claims made on the internet.

The block 1 and 2 KLJ-7 are doppler based.

Even AESA use the pulsed doppler concept. I think you are confusing that with the antenna.

A 2-ship JF-17 flight can definitely cause a surface action group with 2-3 ships mixed frigate - destroyer or corvette class some worry but a larger battlegroup especially with what IN is equipped/equipping with can easily knock out 4 C-802s.

It also means the JF-17s are bugging out fast because they have no loiter capability unless they tank before heading home.

A better combination against larger groups is having a 4 ship mix with C-802s and CM-400s doing a multi axis attack. That is 8 missiles following different paths and attack parameters.

Even smarter moved would be a back up pair launching decoy systems (Turbojet slapped with a basic GPS guidance) and emitters to get the ship guidance and system confused.

Current pattern is to target 1 ship with 2 missiles approaching from different angles. So a 4 ship will require 4-5 JF17 to engage.

JF17 is not fit for a true anti ship strike role. It is too small of an aircraft.

JH7A still rules higher on mission capability---.
