JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 5]

They are both multi-role, so yes they can be used as bombers. But JF-17 in particular is smallish and does not have a great load out because of the relatively under-powered engine. Plus the range is an issue as well. But in any case bombers are not really important for Pakistan's defense doctrine. Both would do well to defend our boundaries and even operate in enemy air-space if needed.

but dont you think like 65 war if our airforce need to do heavy boombing on enemy strategic places than we need some boomber specially for this role ... it will take at least 3-4 rounds of boombing from small f-16 to destroy a completely operative airport of enemy.

We only had B-57 medium bombers and while they look big there actual bomb load was much less than F-16 and even JF-17 at around 3300 kg only. Plus with precision guided bombs, our modern multirole aircrafts would be much more effective.

That's why we have cruise missiles with 600 KM range and most of strategic places in india comes with in 600 KM distance

but dude dont you think in a limited war its to dangerous to launch a cruise missile ? even we dont go for a nuclear war and cruise missile entering indian air space can panic the indian armed forces that either its nuclear tipped or conventional , if in panic they can launch a nuclear warhead .... human psychology 101 .....
strategic attacks and limited amount of warhead use in future wars , countries build weapons but who dare to fire them on a nuclear armed country ?

600 KM only covers north India for you and parts of west.

enough to hit FOB's, Large moving columns, Army DEPO's thus giving enough breathing space to PAF.

Well there aren't any room for strategic strikes from India. Whatever may comes, it will totally escalate to all out conventional war.

Cruise missiles will be primarily used in conventional mode not in nuke role

Nope. Cruise Missiles aren't a biggie. Their primary purpose is to carry non-nuclear tips.

Yes, exactly where most of the strategic targets vis-a-vis Pakistan are.

If you are on about Babur...the initial range was 700km.
And works were underway to increase it.

Considering Babur launched from a safe distance within Pakistan. I considered 100-150 KM distance of it's flight over Pakistan

Those are the parts that fuel the war against Pakistan, and hence worth targeting.

A nice read would be on the concepts of John Warden and his team who were keystone for the Gulf war air campaign.
The Checkmate plan as it was known brought up some very important key findings during the study.
First..that if one can identify the logistical spoke and wheels along with key targets; even the beheamoth that was the soviet war machine would be stopped dead in its tracks.

Second, One did not have to invade Moscow or even St Petersburg to defeat the Soviets. All that was needed was to defeat their ability to wage war a 150 km from the NATO controlled borders.

Now, these discoveries were made against the Soviet union who did have reserves throughout their key "second lines" and their bases were dispersed. India on the other hand has practically all of its key bases and forces thrown at Pakistan. Which puts them EASILY within a 250km radius and NOT even 600km. Therefore, standoff weapons with even 300 km may be used within the borders of Pakistan to threaten key Indian installations and focal points.

I dia has 3 Defensive corp based from NE & china border apart from that one dedicated attack corp coming up in NE. Well For PAk is concerned only "P" missile cover entire pak from border and rest is can be fire for remote location.

Guys.. please let's not get to war in this thread and confined ourselves to discussing the topic at hand.

Has the PAF integrated the Babur missile on the JF-17?

How many JF-17s does the PAF have up to this moment?

It was not feasible to modify Babur further to act as ALCM and the successes achieved in Babur program, a new ALCM borrowing many babur technologies were made and this would be integrated on JF-17.

Hatf-VIII (Ra'ad) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Around ~45-46 JF-17 are in PAF inventory. 25-30 are flying. 15-20 aircrafts are being going through testing and evaluation phase.

I thought there were about a hundred and something. How many JF-17s will the PAF need?
