Mach 4 means 1180.185600001 m/sec and Mach 5.5 means 1622.755200002 m/sec.

As discussed earlier, from the posted sources in this thread, the missile will reach these speeds only in the final attack stage, at close distance, so it defenitely will be difficult to counter for SR defence systems, but for long to medium range systems, it will have the same advantages and disadvantages as any other missile too. That's possibly why only the Janes article had estimated it as an anti ship missile, while all Chinese soures states long range ground attack missile only.

someone should tell this so called expert

He is not an expert, even most Indians don't take him seriously. :)

The indian expert forgot MBDA storm shadow, with similar characteristics as Raad and Babur will be used with indian Rafale..
And Storm shadow is considered a very potent weapon. The expert did not say why he thinks Babur and Raad are not effective weapons.

My two pence are that.... PAF opred for CM-400 due to its low low cost.
Cruise missiles like Babur and Raad are expensive, close to a million dollar while CM-400 may cost less than 100k.
Then the surprise factor of any cruise missile is lost over flat terrain, such as deserts and planes...
A mach 4-5 missile will come handy under those sitation as cost effective and fast attack vehicle...
Indian Brahmos costs 2 million a piece....how many CM-400 Pakistan can fire in that money? Go figure..

The impact kinetic energy and resultant destruction will be more than the slower Brahmos, provided two of these are fired against one Brahmos...

Look up the cost of Raytheon's maverick missiles....
Not same but similar,and American.....
Same thing..old missile reborn with new electronics..driving down the cost...

Even if Barak and other anti-ASM measures are capable to engage a combination of C802, C-602, Harpoons and CM400 AKG, the assumption is that all indian radars are operational and are not attcked either prior to the major attack or as a joint target by anti radiation missiles or jammed or interfered in any way.

Take the radars out and you got a sitting duck with all the Barak and anti-ASM capability.

Not to mention the cost of Barak..about 3 million per missile...
Whatever india does in an expendive way.Pakistan counter acts at much lower cost, this is a trend now.

Welcome back...

And plz explain further...what do you mean?

Within the South Asian, central Asian Middle East context and specifically within the "Asia Pivot", Have we seen IA or IAF or IN be a active threat?? Sure they have capabilities and these must be considered by policy makers, however, it will more than likely be a outside power, a non-Asia power in concord with a "coalition" that has and will continue to present a threat to Pakistani interests - what capabilities are required to meet this threat??

Only those powers that ensure with confidence that they can defend themselves against such "coalitions" not just militarily but economically and psychologically, can assure their populace of a greater security and thus is a genuinely effective effort towards the promotion of peace.

I wouln't consider the cost specially in this manner because cost of Barak or any other anti ASM capability should not be compared with the cost of threat rather what it is protecting. If Barak does its job to protect AAC then that 3 million is well spent, hopwever if the total cost on defending armament is much higher than the cost of attacking armament, then the war would be much costlier for the defendant, but in the end what matters is who achieved its targets and low cost of armament does provide a better offensive capability (in terms of numbers) to Paksitan.
