The block approach means that the aircraft was meant to have "gradual" improvements from the start, much like the F-16. Tactically the Paf was caught with its pants down---.

In 2005 they decided that there would be no war with india and peace would be soon so they donated the fighter aircraft money to earthquake relief---which was later on looted by the civil service and politicians---.

Can’t blame them. Whole nation is broke.

Block approach is based on technological advances in sciences & engineering or ongoing mission/situation requirements.

PAF is slow as far as inducting technology. Technology was out there, they decided to go with non composites and 3 gen tech. Now they are trying to Caught up due to situation/mission requirements.

Initially they were, but things have improved considerably. Even the first block had more than 5% composites in the airframe, and saw incremental improvements in avionics and subsystems.

For instance, who would have known that this so called cheap aircraft used fly by optics?

Yes---when you get the funds---they should be spent in the shortest possible time---because we are a poor country---other diversion may occur---.

What you are saying is in the realm of a general BLOCK UPGRADE---.

Grippen NG is a structural Block upgrade---so no comparison.

Actually AESA is a massive massive upgrade---just totally changes the playing field in your favor---.
