Italy to soon approve the MEGA defence deal with Egypt

The Italian government is preparing to approve the sale of 6 frigates, twenty naval patrol boats, 24 Eurofighter fighter bombers and 24 M346 trainer planes to Egypt.
The newspaper, quoting the statements of a source from the Italian Prime Minister office, said that despite many difficulties and obstacles - including the question of the death of the student, Regeni - that this deal is considered a "Order of the century", as it does not only represent a commercial and industrial value to Italy, but also comes within the desire of Rome to maintain solid relations with Cairo, as well as to maintain a political dialogue regarding many open files in the Eastern Mediterranean (a full strategic partnership).

According to the Italian newspaper La Republica, the Italian government is set up to soon approve the MEGA defense deal with Egypt that includes:

-6 Frigates including 2x confirmed FREMM Bergamini (with ToT)
-24 M-346 trainer jets
-24 Eurofighter Typhoon jets
-20 Falaj II OPV (with ToT)
-1(at least) Military Satellite for surveillance and radar imaging

It is all on credit from European Banks and Governments.. actually it is a smart move.. since if there is any delay or change of policy those countries will have to deal with their own banks..Egypt has proved to pay all its dues on time..That is what the French Government has said after that first loan for Rafale..etc.. So Egypt has a good credit rating with the EU in general..that is one point..the other is that Egypt is coming big in Gaz and petrochemicals and guess who are the first destination..
There is no war in the horizon..Egypt is simply arming itself as it should have done gradually for years.. Sisi is just catching up on that.. And in any eventuality..If one wants peace..one need to prepare for war..as the old and proven saying goes..

Zia was the real strategist--even though he got carried away in his religious zeal not understand that you cannot force religion over anyone---but you can force the rule of law---.

There is no love lost with Turkey either---.

But the important thing to visualize here is---Egypt got the opportunity and they jumped on it---.

The 5000 years old history has taught them---you have to make alliances to benefit yourself first and foremost---. Never let a wedge develop between your friends and you---. Soldiers are supposed to die---for a war here or for a war over there---.

Isn't it better for y'all to go for additional Rafales instead of EFT since y'all already operate 24 of em. In case the requirement is for a navalized variant, Dassault has the Rafale-M. Also, it's easier to deal with 1 country for logistics, spares, maintenance and support rather than a consortium

Egypt is buying an alliance not just a weapon system. This is why the mulitple types of jets can't be understood by PAF here.

PAF refused to buy even a token number of J-10s, even though it would have allowed them to dramatically increase their numbers should a war start by being resupplied by China. PAF can't think strategically so the end result is always some petty argument.

Short-sighted, madly in love with being seen as feminists and employing women, begging for F-16s and sending their officers to gora land to get some of the white rubbed into them. They are the perfect Macauley's children. @MastanKhan
