Please check the geographical location of andaman islands. There has been major presence there for decades. If you may recall this area was hit during Aceh's earthquake that triggered a massive tsunami.

Yes they are putting in a major force in andaman islands yet they cannot even provide basic communication antennas between the islands. i was approached to assist them with a more better design and using what was locally available vs aluminium tubing materials that corrode in ocean winds; just a few days of work i sent them a prototype which they successfully employed for past 10 years.

I remember IN in the 80s blocked Malaca straits and boarded and searched an Australian ship. The Ausies got pissed off and the M3 sale to PAF was the result. It was at a fairly generous sale for the PAF. So technically it is possible and the IN has done it for a short while. However Australian Navy has improved leaps and bounds since then so whether it will irk them enough to act or not needs to be seen.

From Pak psrspective there will be no peace till such time that the matter of Kashmir gets resolved amicably. Our water comes through that area and with Indian control over it there is potentially always a risk of a flashpoint leading to breakout of hostilities. Resolve Kashmir and have peace. Dont resolve it and there will be no peace.

80s was a different story as australia's capacity to rescue her ship is limited but malacca strait is in few minutes reach of china fighters so even if they try doing such thing china can come up with full force , hence its a possibility but without capacity as of now... Furthermore complete blockade is also not possible due to heavy traffic of other countries as well ..

There is also the Sunda strait which the Indonesians control.
