80s was a different story as australia's capacity to rescue her ship is limited but malacca strait is in few minutes reach of china fighters so even if they try doing such thing china can come up with full force , hence its a possibility but without capacity as of now... Furthermore complete blockade is also not possible due to heavy traffic of other countries as well ..
