To be fair, Type 052C destroyers all have Chinese radars, sonars, engines, weapons. And that's a pretty old ship class, operational since 2004. Type 052C are getting replaced by Type 052D beginning this year, which are far more advanced.

China's military is happy to accept sub-par indigenous equipment (not like they have much of a choice). The Indian Mil is different- they won't accept anything that doesn't match their incredibly high criteria as such when Indian products aren't up to the mark they go to foreign companies.

SU-35 has been turned down by China as the Chinese have an equivalent or better.

If the Chinese could not build state of the art warships, then they would have paid Russia to design and produce them for them.
All that the Russians would need to do would be to navalise S-300 radar and SAM technology and then put this into a hull.

Apart from nuclear submarines and engines, China has either caught up or beaten the Russians.

This year the Chinese economy will touch 10 trillion dollars. You do not get to this level by not reaching a certain technological level.

Exactly. China rejected Russia's Su-35 offer because J-10B is a superior fighter. The new breed of Chinese warships like Type 052D are modeled after American style. China has not bought a ship from Russia since decades ago. Type 052D was launched nearly 7 years after INS Kolkata was launched, and is already about to be inducted in a month or two. INS Kolkata's CIWS are not as good as those on Type 052D. AK 630 is not closed loop like Phalanx, Goalkeeper, Type 730, and lacks EO targeting.
