Indian Navy Begins Search For New Large Landing Ships

Hey guys is there any info on the RFI ??/ I got something on the net which says IN earlier wanted LPD just like INS Jalshwa but later they realise that their demand suites more for a LHD. I got a list of 8 companies who shown interest. I am not sure about the authenticity of the source but i will still post the name. The highlight is most of them are LHDs in the list...

LHDs are not miniature Aircraft carriers. They can not carry fixed wing aircraft which makes their striking and air dominance roles non existent. They excel at sub killing however with their complement of helicopters.

You are right, it was metaphorically speaking but for your information its not true, Spanish LHD Juan Carlos I is capable of carrying aircrafts, it will also carry F35 in the coming years.

That is a rather moot point as India will not be getting the F 35.
I know, it was just for the knowledge sake not from Indian perspective. Also one more informative thing, its not just F35, right now they operate sea harriers.

The eight vendors interested in this deal are :

1. Schelde Shipbuilding's Enforcer LPD

Could always buy the 071 Yuzhao LPD. Its not really an offensive ship without a complement of marines and amphibious assault vehicles.Newer versions include mountings for a RAM type CIWS instead of the 76 mm gun along with 4 AK 630 CIWS. Plus its about 3 times cheaper than comparable platforms like the San Antonio class at only 300 million dollars. Its not politically correct but is certainly financially correct. Could built a bit of trust between the two countries.

Type 071 Yuzhao LPD

8. Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction’s 14,500-tonne assault landing ship

These were the eight companies who proposed the designs for Indian 4 billion $ deal....

Why not build yourself?

The navy has stipulated that it wants ships constructed under the Indian government's "buy and make" procedure, which entails the local license build of proven foreign equipment.

Read it ......the language is really simple.. or use translator.
